Cost advice (and what do you think of this material!) (babywearers!)

I want to make a reversible ring sling baby carrier with this in satin on one side and this on the other.
With rings as well it will cost me £30 for a one of a kind, one off sling as well as spare material to make a toy one for DD1. Is it worth it? This is what I would pay for a decent one brand new, would you spend this amount to make your own stuff?

Anyone? I have itchy shopping fingers but don't know if it's worth spending when it won't be any cheaper than buying one!

Hi there,
Well its a matter of opinon really. if you love the fabrics then go for it. you will enjoy making it and it wil look stunning.
Double layer will be a lot more supportive than a single layer. I have never used satin for rs, but I have used double layer silks and single layer silks, and I have to say the double layered silk rs are much more supportive.
have you checked out eesti and sbp rs?

The satin wouldn't be too slippery for the rings would it?

ChirpyGirl · 02/01/2008 19:42

If you only had satin then it wouldn't work I think, but with the cotton backing it would be a lot mroe grippy. I am still wondering whether it is worth spending the price of a new already made sling on bits, but then no-one has colours I really like!

What are eesti and sbp?!

eesti
sbp
natya

most of them will do customs I think

ChirpyGirl · 02/01/2008 20:34

Actually that has helped as it will cost more than double to buy it than it would for me to make it, plus I get the satisfaction element.
So am going to make it myself I think!
Any takers on your nesthacken? My wrap arrived todayk, 'tis lovely, but I still can't get the hang of feeding in a wrap, I have to get the RS out!
