@crazyjinglist

Great news re DH's interview progress. Sounds like a mental number of hoops to jump through!

I'm not far from @CrochetBug either, I'm basically where Surrey/Berkshire/Hampshire join. Maybe in the summer (when DH has his job 😉 and we can sit outside, we can have a knit & natter meet up? You can all teach me how to knit/crochet faster!!🤞🏼🤞🏼For DH.

@lucysmam. Socks look great, I'm looking forward to 'on leg' photo, I think the colours are nice for DD.

Lots of lovely yarn, projects & other things (like marmalade!!) going on 🧶

No yarny news here, sorry.

crazyjinglist · 27/01/2022 12:57

Aww I'd love a knit and natter meet-up!
This bloody application if dh's is s real rollercoaster ride though - they've now postponed (again!) the next stage until March fgs! Apparently they've been advised to do this by the local authority in the hope of finding some more candidates to get a wider field!

@crazyjinglist the interview process for Head-ship seems crazy long!

Thanks for the compliments on the socks 😊 I enjoyed making them. Leg photo's to be taken still...I went to bed extra extra early last night!

Not much crochet here over the last day or two; I've been busy painting nursery rhyme wooden spoons for work. I did the first few rounds of the dog jumper last night, before I went to bed, but I might frog it tonight & start again.

I'm off to see what else has been going on on the last page now...

lucysmam those spoons are adorable

crazy sorry the application process is such a rollercoaster. February is a short month though so fingers crossed not too much longer to wait.

I know there are a few HP fans on here. For those of you with an Alexa there is a daily HP quiz that you can do.

lucysmam · 27/01/2022 21:54

I'll try to remember to tell dd2 about that in the morning, thanks InTheNight! She'll probably already know, knowing her, but if not it'll be something else to cram into the day...she does allllllll sorts.

sophs29 · 28/01/2022 09:50

@lucysmam the spoons are adorable!

I've been making this little cutie over the last couple of nights, bit annoying though that the hat seems far too small for his head! 😂 I followed the pattern so I think I must have crocheted the hat really tight!

Omg sophs that is adorable!!

crazyjinglist oh that's a pity, how disappointing when it was so close!

I've finished my sample knit and have a new one to start. If anyone's going to wonderwool you can pop by and see them Grin

lucysmam · 28/01/2022 20:40

Aw sophs, he's lovely!

Could someone cast an eye over this doggy jumper pattern and see if you can see a reason I couldn't do it in rounds? I did the collar in rounds last night, rather than turning it.

CrochetBug · 28/01/2022 20:58

@lucysmam the dog sweater is done in rounds isn't it?
I love the spoons!

@sophs29 hes adorable!

lucysmam · 28/01/2022 21:01

It says to turn at the end of each round...which seemed to defeat the object a little bit. Unless I've mis-read maybe!

It wanted me to turn at the end of each round for the collar but when I thought about it, that just made extra work for me. I'll go and read it again. Maybe it's just tiredness & I'm not processing properly!

lucysmam · 28/01/2022 21:06

It does want me to turn every round...it just seemed a bit odd. I might sit and write out the row the 'right' way then the turned way, tomorrow, so I don't actually have to turn but the stitches are still in the right places.

Unless there's any benefit to turning, that I'm missing, that anyone knows of?

CrochetBug · 28/01/2022 21:07

I think thats only on the gauge swatch. On the main pattern it says "join with slst"

lucysmam · 28/01/2022 21:07

I meant to attach a screenshot 🙄

CrochetBug · 28/01/2022 21:10

Sorry I see what you mean. Turning it just helps it stay flat and straight. Sometimes if you don't turn then the final piece ends up leaning to one side.

lucysmam · 28/01/2022 21:28

Oh, yes, that makes sense actually! I didn't think about the ami's having a slightly twisted seam as you go round and round! I'll do as I'm told & turn then 🤣

Turnitupto11 · 28/01/2022 21:45
@Turnitupto11

Apologies!!! I'm suffering terrible brain fog! I've just realised you were after knitting & I've sent you down a crochet black hole!

Sorry 🧶
That's ok! I can crochet a little, but not very well, just in straight lines!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 28/01/2022 22:14

Erm… if anyone finds a 5mm hook (the purple one as I have to tell DH), I think it might be mine!

While I wait for my hook to turn back up, here is a baby blanket I’m working on for a friend. His partner is due in May but I’ve never met her and I don’t know if this is going to her tastes. As the stitches are quite dense and it’s aran wool it’s a warm blanket and probably not needed for May but it should be long enough and wide enough to go round mum’s shoulders while she does the night feed (friend is a proper northerner and wears shorts in below freezing so won’t need something if he does a night feed) or even for her to nap under (albeit curled up). I’ve got to finish the silver section at the top and add another dark blue section. When I find my hook 🙄

tizwozliz · 28/01/2022 22:19

It'll turn up if you buy another one :-) I have two purples now (and two red)

NiceCardigan · 28/01/2022 22:41

I love the colours in the blanket IntheNight

I have two purples as well after thinking one was lost for ever.

I’m in the middle of redoing my temperature blanket- I’ve changed the temperature spread and switched to two rows per day as it was turning out smaller than I hoped . I’m surrounded by frogged yarn.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/01/2022 23:44

I have spent at least two hours sewing today - maybe three - and I am no further on with the sampler than I was when I started.

First I found a mistake, unpicked a load, and re stitched it. Then I realised I had sewn it in the right place - big tick - but in the wrong colour - big swearing. So I unpicked the whole damn lot again, and tackled a different block - in the right colour, this time - tick, but I made a mistake in the counting, so I made a whole block too big - bigger swearing.

I unpicked that, and started that block again, but it is still fecking wrong, so I have unpicked it all again. I’ve shoved it all back in it’s bag, and I don’t know if I can face embroidery Groundhog Day tomorrow.

I want to cry.

sophs29 · 29/01/2022 08:13

@InTheNightWeWillWish that blanket is gorgeous! I love the colours and it does like very warm and cosy! My nephew was born at the end of may and I gave him the CAL blanket we done, they use it all the time!

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius oh no, that sounds very demotivating! I hope you have a better craft day today!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 29/01/2022 08:25

I found the bloody crochet hook… just as I was about to go to bed. Typical 🙄 I still might buy some more though Grin

nicecardigan I have the opposite problem with my temperature blanket, I underestimated how big it’s going to be. I think it’ll be on our king bed as that’s the only place big enough for it.

sophs my friend’s little boy is due on Star Wars day so I’m also going to make him a yoda comforter. Friend will be very excited by this (friend’s partner may be less so).

The blanket is deramores own brand. I love the deramores colours, they work so well by themselves but I think they work really well with each other too.

MerylSqueak · 29/01/2022 09:40

@lucysmam I love his little hat! It looks deliberate.

@InTheNightWeWillWish lovely blanket. I must investigate Deramores yarn.

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGeniusNightmare. I've had days like that. You feel so cheated. I just think some days are bad knitting days!

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack ooo Wonderwool! Can we have a pic of the test knit?

CrochetBug · 29/01/2022 09:57

@InTheNightWeWillWish that blanket is lovely. I have multiples of every hook size and still can't always find the right one Hmm

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius I hate days like that. Hopefully today will be better.

I don't know if anyone remembers me mentioning a friend who had a heart attack before Christmas? He died last night. I'm all discombobulated and whatever. Sad

sophs29 · 29/01/2022 09:59

Oh no @CrochetBug sending hugs! It's a wave of emotions when you lose someone isn't it, sending you strength 💕
