View out of my window between the houses on the opposite side of my road to the bay and the fells beyond.

I'm unfortunately going to be stuck in an exam room for a few hours shortly, but might ask dh if he fancies a late afternoon drink at the pub overlooking the bay later!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 20/03/2022 06:31

fairIsle I hope DH’s interview this week goes well and you get some good news on the job front.

merylsqueak that scarf is lovely.

nicecardigan I hate sewing in ends. I see so many nice granny square projects and just don’t do them because I can’t be bothered to see the ends in. I probably need to get over it then I can start doing and enjoying granny square projects.

I’ve been getting on with MIL’s blanket as she was visiting. I didn’t manage to get all the way to the end but I got to round 69 (out of 108). There’s part of me that obviously wanted to get to the end but it’s still a decent size and at the end of the day it needed to fit in a suitcase.

That is beautiful InTheNight! It’s so intricate!

Those are lovely colours NiceCardigan, I can’t wait to see the finished cardigan!

That is a very lovely scarf MerylSqueak, such a beautiful texture and it looks so soft.

It’s amazingly sunny here too, the sun woke me up this morning, the brighter mornings are really making it feel like Spring. I got the days mixed up and missed my fibre dying class, but luckily it’s recorded so you can watch it afterwards for a while. I might sit in the garden with headphones and watch that today Smile

sophs29 · 20/03/2022 11:21

@InTheNightWeWillWish that is stunning! I bet she was so pleased with it!

Weather is lovely here too, spent the weekend gardening! I love spring!

Fairislefandango · 20/03/2022 17:29

That blanket is gorgeous, @InTheNightWeWillWish!

Dh has decided to pull out of the interview. He's not really in the right frame of mind for it and he was getting more and more unsure if he wanted to do it. Never mind!

I'm getting along well with dsis' basket. I'm thinking I might make her a couple of little ones in the same colour scheme but in plain colours rather than mixed.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 21/03/2022 08:37

Thanks all Smile MIL did like the blanket and is going to show it off to her friends when she gets home Grin

FairIsle sorry to hear that DH has pulled out of the interview.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 21/03/2022 09:46

Sorry to hear that fairisle Flowers

I’ve finished the first knitting related activity I’ve done for a while, by frogging my black lace yoke. It just wasn’t going to work out sizing wise and the wool is too good to use for something I’m not happy with so I’m going to find a different pattern instead. I think I’d quite like to knit something in pieces with set in sleeves.

NiceCardigan · 21/03/2022 14:04

Ooh what a beautiful blanket @InTheNightWeWillWish

I'm sorry to hear that your DH has pulled out of the interview process @Fairislefandango Flowers

Fairislefandango · 21/03/2022 16:47

It's ok - it was the right decision tbh. I think we were both having second thoughts about the prospect of such a big move.

On a more fun note, I might have mentioned that I teach an adult German class consisting of two lovely women who also knit. One of them has just moved house, so instead of having our German lesson at my house tomorrow, we are going to hers for a nosy at the new house and it's going to be a German knit and natter lesson Grin. I've printed out a massive list of German knitting vocab so we can talk knitting in German. Not sure how much actual knitting we'll get done though - it's hard enough chatting in English and keeping track of your stitches!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 21/03/2022 18:07

Oh wow, that’s cool fairisle Grin maybe you should find a German knitting pattern to work off too Wink

sophs29 · 21/03/2022 19:43

@Fairislefandango I love the idea of a few baskets! I keep meaning to make those ones that can hang, to store all DS's mittens in inside the coat cupboard, but as usual never get round to it!

And your German knit and natter class sounds so fun! Let us know how it goes! Bet you'll have one happy student!

Fairislefandango · 21/03/2022 22:09

Yes I like those hanging baskets too! Dsis' basket is taking me a while - it would be fairly quick because of using 4 strands at once... but it's really quite big! At least I've started it in good time for once though! Her birthday isn't until 5th May, so I've got a while.

MerylSqueak · 22/03/2022 06:34

What an amazing blanket @InTheNightWeWillWish. You clever thing.

German knit and natter sounds great.

I seem to be constantly ill at the moment and somehow also one of the only people I know who has never had COVID. There's a massive rise in our school so I am testing every day. I'll probably test positive the very day self isolation ends. Struggling through school every day with one of those 'not quite ill enough to stay at home' headache and sore throats. Right now I'd love to be sent home!

NiceCardigan · 22/03/2022 20:08

I love the idea of German knit and natter!

I hope you feel better soon @MerylSqueak

Here’s the granny square cardigan almost finished - I’ll post a modelled version when it’s dry.

Fairislefandango · 22/03/2022 21:09

Oh poor you, @MerylSqueak - hope you're better soon! Cases are high here too. Our school has shut two year groups (including dd's but not ds') because they don't have enough staff to teach them!

Nice cardigan, @NiceCardigan Grin

German knit and natter didn't quite happen, as one person didn't have a WIP as she was waiting for a yarn delivery, and I... forgot to take my knitting ShockHmm. So it was just German, but we did talk about knitting in German. Will do actual German K&N another time!

German knitting word of the day: Zweispitzige Nadeln (double-pointed needles)! Smile

MerylSqueak · 23/03/2022 06:39

That sounds like something really vicious! I might need to wield that at school today....

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm still the same and my y11 had one of his manic episodes yesterday. Blimey! He's not pleasant when he's like that!

I've started another scarf. I'll post a pic tonight as I'm not sure about it

MerylSqueak · 23/03/2022 19:20

This is the new scarf. I can't decide if it's nice or the yarn is really too chunky for the lace and it's always going to look a bit uneven. What do you all think?

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 23/03/2022 20:27

I sort of see what you mean Meryl but it’ll open up when you block it. Could you maybe block what you’ve done so far and see if you like it?

That is lovely NiceCardigan, such beautiful colours together!

CrochetBug · 23/03/2022 20:30

That blanket is glorious @InTheNightWeWillWish!!! Lucky lucky MIL.

Very nice cardigan @NiceCardigan. Love the colours.

@MerylSqueak I think it's really pretty.

@Fairislefandango German knit and natter sounds fun. Not that I can knit or natter in German Grin

I've not finished anything for ages. I've been all over the place, I decided I didn't need my meds, then realised I do after a very very bad weekend Blush. So I'm being good and taking them all. Had the funeral today. Lots of laughter and tears. I'm quite exhausted now.

sophs29 · 23/03/2022 21:03

@NiceCardigan that's looking great! Did you make it up as you went in the end or follow a pattern?

@MerylSqueak hope you're on the mend soon! I'm not familiar with knitting but to me that looks gorgeous!

Oh @CrochetBug funerals are so tough! Thinking of you!

Fairislefandango · 23/03/2022 21:20

@MerylSqueak - I think the scarf is looking beautiful, what pattern is it? I've never really done lace and I very much like the look of that, especially in that nice natural colour.

Glad you got some laughter, @CrochetBug - funerals are never easy. Flowers

Dh seems to have settled into not being at work and is managing to enjoy his unexpected leisure time a bit. I'm really busy with work and decided not to go to knit and natter tonight. Can't wait for the Easter holidays - a week and a bit to go for us!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 23/03/2022 21:34

nicecardiagn love the cardigan and we’ll done for finding the strength to sew all the ends together Grin

crochetbug a funeral should have some laughter, celebrating the good times with that person. Give your pillow a squish, you gave your friend a lovely sendoff.

FairIsle if your knit and natter group expands into crochet, let me know. I’ll send you the amigurumi book my mum accidentally sent me in German.

Meryl I can’t really see where it looks uneven… I think it might be one of those if you can see it though, you’ll not be able to unsee it!

MerylSqueak · 23/03/2022 21:38

Sorry I didn't mean to ignore your nice cardigan @NiceCardigan Smile very nice!

@Fairislefandango I've got it on a pdf but can't seem to link it. I'll try and figure it out tomorrow. In the meantime it looks very like thing I've seen called arrowhead lace. It's very easy.

I hope you have a peaceful night's sleep @CrochetBug. Funerals are very hard.

That's a good idea@SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound. Iight have a go tomorrow.

MerylSqueak · 23/03/2022 21:43

@Fairislefandango here you go. It's white scarf she's holding up third one down on the left hand side.
