My friend Alom Shaha is behind the newly launched "A Month of Making" campaign to encourage people to make at least one Christmas present this year, using household materials and save a bit of money while cutting down on waste.
He's a physics teacher, dad of two small kids, a science communicator and also the author of two science books for parents and children - and he also makes lots of videos.
The campaign's supported by the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering and, over the next month (15 Nov to 12 Dec 2021), will feature lots of short instructional videos by different scientists, engineers, artists, craftspeople etc.
Here's the first video (from Alom) - how to create the game of 'Sinkeroo'
And here's a previous video of his where he made a wave machine for his classroom from jelly babies, duct tape and kebag sticks :)
"Welcome to A Month of Making - a month dedicated to sustainability, creativity and handmade Christmas gifts. From 15 November to 12 December 2021, we will be releasing a series of instructional DIY gift-making videos, created by makers from the world of STEM, featuring a variety of handmade models, machines, games and toys to help inspire your creativity this Christmas."
