Hi has anyone made a tutu before?

I've had a look online and thinking of trying it out. Would I be able to use elastic for the waist band or will I need the crochet headband strip thingies? Also could I use organza or does it need to be tulle? I have very little experience with anything sewing related, all tips are very welcomed!
Thanks in advance

I made a knotted tutu first and it looked amazing. You only need elastic. Here's a tutorial.

@FortunesFave thank you! Will definitely have a look at the knotted ones. I don't suppose you have any pictures of the one you made? I'd love to see.

Where's best to buy tulle from? I'm struggling to find it anywhere other than online (where it's a lot more expensive and risks not coming in time), my local hobbycraft do such a small range of colours.

I don't as it was years ago but it looked amazing and DD who was 5 when she wore it, loved it. I had a few Mums ask me to make one for their DDs. We made a purple one out of two shades of purple for halloween and she was a witch...a glamorous one!

I used to get mine from a local craft and fabric shop...it was a big one. Have you googled fabric outlets near you?

Can't help with making a tutu but Fabricland have a really quick delivery time. The stuff has arrived within a couple of days every time I've ordered from them and they sell lots of dance costume fabrics.
