Since lockdown last year I got back in to cross stitching, tapestries with wool and now cross stitch people portraits. It’s so addictive!

@pussycatinfluffyslippers yes it's like the Bateaux tapestry...but you'll enjoy, it's worth it!

shadypines · 16/04/2023 18:20

I meant Bayeux!

@FeltCarrot Can I ask where you got the patterns from for your little people portraits? I absolutely love them and want to do some myself as gifts for people! Grin

My eyesight is too poor for counted cross stitch now, but I can still do Jolly Red tapestry kits. Here are my two best cross stitch efforts.

This took two years and it's far from perfect but I love it.

The pattern book I’ve used is Stitch People. It wasn’t cheap but I’ve probably made 40ish portraits using it. Some were gifts and others commissions so I’ve more than made my money back. If you do purchase the book, there is a Facebook page which is really helpful and full of ideas.
Let me know how you get on!

Oh, and I’ve got the downloaded version as it’s an American thing!

Fab! Thank you. I shall take a look and give them a go! If they're half decent I'll come back to the thread with pics. Grin

Hi all, I'm just a random talentless person who doesn't do crafts, but I stumbled onto this wonderful thread by complete chance this afternoon, and wanted to say just how amazingly talented I think you all are.

As you were.
🙂

You've made me pick up the Jolly Red Christmas stocking I'm half way through. I should have made it last year for my nephew's first Christmas, but he was a late addition to the family and I forgot that I had made one fir each of his cousins.

This took years but is finally on a wall in my house.

I love this, can you remember where you bought it please?

UnalliterativeGeorge · 08/07/2023 21:04

I'm pretty sure I got it in a sale in Hobbycraft many moons ago! It's made by heritage crafts and on their website though. Trying to convince myself I don't need to do the county now Smile

Aw thank you for getting back to me x

FeltCarrot · 09/07/2023 10:26

I’ve just finished this one, I hadn’t realised how many backstitches were involved!

@FeltCarrot, that's amazing I love it, you've done a really good job with it. backstitching is so time consuming but worth it with an outcome like that x

FeltCarrot · 09/07/2023 10:32

Ah, thank you. I must admit there were a few times I wished I hadn’t started it and it got put away for a few months!

Iloveringos · 09/07/2023 10:34

I know I'm like that, I haven't done any cross stitch for a few months now but, after seeing some of the lovely projects on here, I'm going to start something new, it's given me a kick up the butt 🤣x

FeltCarrot · 09/07/2023 10:36

I needed something simpler to do after that so I’ve now done a few birth/wedding calendars.
