Since lockdown last year I got back in to cross stitching, tapestries with wool and now cross stitch people portraits. It’s so addictive!

I've recently done these... Most need framing:

I've done lots more but can't upload. Wolf is 1,800+ stitches and Sopranos took 27 hours! It's a gift to DH.

I got into cross stitch around October time last year and I'm hooked!

I’d never done anything before but inspired by Phillips Perry on Grayson’s Art Club I made this cushion. It’s my favourite saying.

Here’s mine. I love the juxtaposition of ‘pretty’ cross stitch with rage-y message… seems to fit my mood

Hi all, sorry to resurrect an old thread but I wondered if anyone had any cross stitch ideas, something like an A4 size one of a house / home please? I’ve been looking for one for a while but can’t find any that I like ! The one below is the only one I could find that I like but it’s too big for the frame i have.

Have a look at Bothy Threads, they have some lovely house samplers

Where do you get these from? Or do you design them yourself?

I'm doing one of these from Hannah Bass Needlepoint

Two are from Heaven and Earth Designs (Mini Butterfly Effect and Mini Galaxy Girl) and the other is from My Bobbin (Mirkwood). I’d link but I’ve forgotten how to do them!

I was wondering if anyone could help on here-years ago I did a black work fairy
the blackwork was the wings and the body was cross stitch
my ex thought it would be funny to pour black coffee on it,so I had to bin it (I hadn’t framed it at this point-he was being a clever twat and had aimed at another cross stitch I’d almost finished)
I’ve redone the other cross stitch but cannot find the fairy
pretty please,does anyone know of a chart or kit I can do?
I’ve looked at the whole of the internet (or so it feels!) and can’t find anything at all,or if I can,it’s just the picture of the fairy

just got my first cross stitch kit but a little overwhelmed as to how to start at the moment.

@lunathestral - Always start in the middle of the design. Fold your material in even quarters to find the middle. Then mark the exact middle of the design.

Have your stitches always in the same direction. The kit should have instructions/picture of how to do this.

If you meant mine @Habreathmint I bought the StitchPeople book. Have a look, it’s great. I have the downloaded copy as it’s an American thing. I have sold quite a lot of portraits as well as making gifts so it has been well worth the money.

If you do buy the book, there is a Facebook group that you can join. They have loads of incredible ideas and are very helpful.

I'm currently working on a pigeon but I haven't got very far. It's my first one and it kept going wrong but I think I've figured it out finally

Can I join? Haven't got any current projects going as we welcomed our 3rd baby at the end of November so haven't had any time, but I love cross stitching and I'm loving looking at what everyone is doing and getting some motivation!

Ooh can I join? I made my first pattern recently based on a Nick Mulvey record cover and I'm half way through. It's giving me such happiness.

Also - what does everyone keep their kit in?

Some amazing projects on this thread! Makes my little samplers seem even littler in comparison 😅 getting back into the hobby after years off. I love the portraits, might have to get the book!
