That is pretty in those colours InTheNight! I like your choice of colours. How much of the grey did you use? I might have some pink that there's enough of 🤔

lazylinguist · 29/10/2021 20:04

Wow - the thread is busy this evening! @CrochetBug - I have used expensive hand-dyed sock yarn from Etsy and it is gorgeous! I'm also a big fan of Debbie Bliss Rialto luxury sock yarn. Comes in beautiful colours and it's a bit cheaper. I've also got some Austermann Step sock yarn which I've been meaning to make socks out of for ages. It's lovely and soft and springy and is impregnated with aloe vera Shock.

lucysmam I don’t actually know, it was scrap yarn leftover from MIL’s dragon egg. I’ve just checked and the original ball was 85g but it wasn’t full when I started. Then there’s the knotted mess left. It’s the band that takes the most yarn of the contrast colour, the snowflakes don’t actually use that much. I didn’t use too much of the main colour either. It’s probably a really good scrap project… unless you fall in love with the pattern and want matching wrist warmers and cowls (now crochetbug has mentioned that)!

crochetbug I think that would look really striking or maybe like a bright pink. I think most of my rainbow yarn is DK though - might have to modify for DK Grin I’m going to end up making hundreds of these hats with nobody to give them to!

I don’t know if it’s the cold weather or because they’re quite quick but I keep going through my yarn store and seeing what other hats I can make. I only have one head and can therefore only wear one hat at a time. I also don’t really suit hats Hmm which is why I found a headband pattern for me. Still want to make hundreds of different hats Confused Everyone might be getting a hat for Christmas, whether they wanted one or not. This is the next hat in the list - www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hat-and-wrist-warmers-in-wave-pattern

@CrochetBug lots of people in the group do make socks with Nord. I think it's mainly the hand wash issue..

Oysterbabe · 29/10/2021 23:40

I've finished the body and done an arm this evening. I think I'm getting a bit faster!

@lucysmam the scarf is great! Well done!

@InTheNightWeWillWish that hat is stunning too. The colours do look great together! I've never seen that type of Pom Pom maker before! Reminds me of the cardboard ones we used to make/use when I was younger! I have the Pom Pom makers that fold together now!

@Oysterbabe that's looking so good! The yarn looks super soft!

We're so busy this weekend as we're going on holiday on Monday so I doubt I'll get any crochet done! Not that I've really picked it up this week anyway, just haven't been in the mood for it! I go through stages like this and it's so annoying.

lazylinguist · 30/10/2021 08:33

@Oysterbabe - that's looking really good!
I'm going to have to look back at all these posts about hats and wristwarmers - I'm after a hat pattern for dh and a wristwarmer one for me.

I finally finished the Goldwing jumper last night and am currently sitting here weaving in ends, listening to the rain hammer down. We've got lots of flooding in Cumbria, but I live on a hill, so we will be ok (but we do occasionally get cut off!). I'm not posting a photo of the Goldwing until it's blocked and dried Grin.

Definitely building up suspense now! Grin

I think our plans for this afternoon are going to get rained off, which I’m not too upset about. I need to do some work this morning as I’m starting to panic about handover (work haven’t got someone in so I need to make sure my notes cover everything and in a lot of detail). After that, I need to work up the energy to do some housework but the rest of the weekend is going to be given to crochet and napping (not necessarily in that order Grin). I will not be starting any new WIPs. I will not endlessly scroll Ravelry, Etsy, Pinterest and crochet blogs for new projects. I will not get distracted by my stash and decide I want to work with this yarn now and go find a project for it. I’m going to attempt to finish something this weekend. I will do some sewing and hopefully I will also do some blocking.

NiceCardigan · 30/10/2021 09:28

Stay strong InTheNightWeWillWish I’ll join you in not looking at patterns for lovely hats.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 30/10/2021 09:40

Morning all Smile

Ooh, congratulations lucysmam you must be relieved it's all done!

That looks great Oysterbabe! You're flying though it!

Sounds lovely sophs hope the packing goes quickly!

I don't suit hats with doubled brims InTheNight but I've found ones that have ribbing that goes up into the pattern work for me or where the doubly brim is folded to the inside... Good luck with your plans for excessive willpower Grin

Lazy you tease you Grin Did you get to go to the wool shop you scoped out or were you too busy eating, drinking and enjoying yourself? 😄

I got 10 mins to sit down last night and look at how to join my body and sleeves before realising I finished on the wrong row of the chart for the body so the raglan decreases won't work, I need to do 6 more rows before I can join them. Oh well, nearly there...

lazylinguist · 30/10/2021 09:44

Far too busy doing other stuff, Flavia! I didn't want to drag all my guests to the other end of town to a yarn shop. Well I did want to... but I didn't! We did tick off all the other stuff I wanted to eat and drink do/visit though. Suffice it to say, I shall be living on lettuce and water for a while...

Goldwing is soaked, gently spun and laid out to dry. I'm not sure the fit is going to be that great, but we'll see...

Are you sure @InTheNightWeWillWish? Grin

lazylinguist · 30/10/2021 10:40

Are you really really sure, @InTheNightWeWillWish?! Grin

I am in the happy position of actually needing to look for multiple patterns! Well... I mean... what I actually need to do is an absolute shit-ton of laundry and various other housework. But you know what I mean!

OP posts:
lucysmam · 30/10/2021 10:45

I predict @InTheNightWeWillWish will come back with a new project to start later on Grin

@Oysterbabe you're really fast! It's looking good.

@lazylinguist you're just teasing us now...

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack the ends took forever but I am mightily pleased with it now it's done. & I learned a lot from doing it, which is always good.

@Bookshark (hopefully I got your nn right!) how did Sophie turn out, if you've finished?

I might think about a blanket for dd1 next. Or actually buying a 3.75mm hook for the gloves, rather than just browse 🤔 There are just too many things to pick from!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 30/10/2021 11:18

I predict InTheNight will come back with a new project to start later on grin

Nooo! My list of WIPs is really long and it’s starting to get embarrassing now!
Here’s my current list, so you can check I’ve not cheated:

  • Leia and yoda comforters
  • Teddy bear onesie
  • Romper
  • Converse Booties
  • Jack Skellington blanket - 3 more granny squares to make, 9.5 (out of 10) Jack Skellington faces to sew. 20 granny squares to block before sewing together. Which is why this WIP has stalled
  • Christmas card appliqués
  • Pom Pom for the snowflake hat
  • C2C blanket

There are then some other WIPs too but I don’t plan on working on those! I feel like managing my WIPs is a full time job in itself. The teddy bear onesie, Leia comforter and Christmas card appliqués are the most likely to be finished this weekend. Well, minus buttons for the onesie.

Oysterbabe · 30/10/2021 12:45

Wow that is quite a list InTheNightWeWillWish

I'm definitely getting ahead of myself but already bought a book of cute patterns and added a ton of yarn to my wishlist 😁

lazylinguist · 30/10/2021 13:46

@lazylinguist you're just teasing us now...

Grin Ok fair enough... Here it is. Not the best picture in some ways, but at least it gives a good view of the colour work!

@lazylinguist that's beautiful!!!!

@InTheNightWeWillWish my list of WIPs is a similar length I think. Plus the million planned projects in my head, and about 5 half thought up Designs of my own to work out. Blush

NiceCardigan · 30/10/2021 14:01

@lazylinguist very nice! I love the colours.

MerylSqueak · 30/10/2021 15:06

That's stunning @lazylinguist!

lazylinguist · 30/10/2021 15:12

Thanks folks! The yoke is quite deep, which is something some other people who have made it have commented on. Hopefully blocking will make it fit well though.

Oysterbabe · 30/10/2021 15:40

Ah it's gorgeous lazylinguist
Nice work!

lucysmam · 30/10/2021 16:21

Ooh, it is beautiful @lazylinguist. Fingers crossed it fits well 🤞

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 30/10/2021 16:34

Oh wow lazy! That is beautiful! I love the colours together! 😍

InTheNightWeWillWish · 30/10/2021 22:00

That’s lovely lazy. I love the colour work on it. Work like that is what makes me wish I could knit.
