Found the slipper pattern!
The sloth one was in Crochet Now magazine issue 66. If you've got kindle unlimited then you can read them for free, although no idea if the back catalogue goes back that far.

JugglingJanuary · 12/01/2022 22:23

@NiceCardigan

Well I’ve done some crochet practice and finished knitting a sleeve so the best of both worlds!
Well done !! ⭐️
catwomando · 13/01/2022 08:22

Hello all.
I've not got the energy to start a new project and my elbow is painful.

So, sharing this I made fir a Christmas present. Lined with cotton fabric to keep it in shape.

Noro yarn

I was worried that it looked a bit rustic but my friend loves it Grin

That looks lovely @catwomandoo.

I finally have a start date for Monday! I think I'm going to nip into town tomorrow & get myself a second pair of dark jeans - I only have one decent pair & tend to avoid my others.

In other news; dd2 has just asked dd1 what she'd like for her birthday, on their way out the door, and dd1's said some crochet hooks and yarn!

NiceCardigan · 14/01/2022 11:10

Sorry about the elbow @catwomandoo I hope it feels better soon - the bag is lovely - rustic is good!

That's a quick start date @lucysmam!I have a wardrobe of nice work clothes none of which have been worn since March 2020. I should get rid of them really as I can't see me ever going back to an office.

JugglingJanuary · 14/01/2022 13:20

@lucysmam

It's great you can start Monday. I'm amazed they could get the paperwork done in time!!

DD1 - excellent, although living in the house of craft, I'm surprised she hasn't just 'borrowed' some of yours & asked for something else as a present!! 🤣

lucysmam · 14/01/2022 13:29

I think because I already work there the DBS will just be done on rotation when it's my "turn". The email literally says "because you already work for us, relax and wait for a start date" which the head's approved.

🤣 the house of craft! Whatever do you mean @JugglingJanuary? 🤔🤔I was too but she wants her own 🤷‍♀️ I want to nip in the yarn shop tomorrow so she can pick "me" Wink some yarn that I'll stash away for the week between now and then.

I'm excited for you! Quite possibly more excited than you 🤣

I wonder what she'll choose??

lucysmam · 14/01/2022 22:02

I've just realised I'll have to dress up properly for World Book Day in March 🤔 I'll be scrolling Pinterest for easy ideas for the next few weeks now 🤣 I think we still have the pieces of The Cat in The Hat from when dd1 went as him...but I don't think the kids would know him!

NiceCardigan · 14/01/2022 22:22

Finally finished. My next project needs to be something easy!

They will if you start reading the book on Monday 😂

It's lovely!!

Well done 👏🏻

What do you fancy doing next? Scarf?

lucysmam · 15/01/2022 08:39

🤣I don't think I've ever seen the book in school! I'll think of something easy. One of our TA's always looks amazing as Mary Poppins!

@NiceCardigan that's amazing, well done!

Fairy godmother is easy but effective - blue cape and a wand!
MerylSqueak · 15/01/2022 09:51

Fabulous @NiceCardigan Smile

Woo hoo @lucysmam. A slightly jealous you get to wear jeans to work. We're not allowed those or trainers.

crazyjinglist · 15/01/2022 10:28

Shock This thread fell off my Threads I'm On!
Have just been catching up and OKG @NiceCardigan - I think you need to change your username from NiceCardigan to AmazinglyStunningJumper Grin.

@lucysmam - very exciting re the job and also the apprentice crocheter! I taught dd to knit a few years ago. She started a scarf but couldn't be bothered with it really.

I had annoying news - I was supposed to be at my spinning course today, but the woman running it has a stomach bug, poor thing, so it's postponed until 29th. Never mind!

I've just cast on a new project though - my first attempt at mittens, using some gorgeously soft, chunky Debbie Bliss Lhasa yarn which I picked up for a bargain price a while back. These are the mittens. I'm making them in blue and cream with the blue as the contrast colour. here

crazyjinglist · 15/01/2022 10:32

Here's the beginning of the first one. In theory they should knit up quite quickly, with chunky yarn and only 30st per round (with a few increases), but the pattern is called one day mittens because you can knit one a day GrinGrinGrin They clearly haven't met me!

JugglingJanuary · 15/01/2022 13:18

@crazyjinglist. what a shame about your spinning course! But better she said than you all come down with it & you've now got time to knit a pair of mittens!

All I've done is hoover!

(Hoover up chrustmas treats & coffee 🤣🤣)

Hookalong · 15/01/2022 14:32

Can I join please?
I tried knitting a couple of years ago when I was ill but didn't really enjoy it. Then I tried crochet and was hooked. That didn't last long as I developed a host of joint and tendon problems so I gave up.

Started again in October and have followed lots of YouTube tutorials, rationed my crocheting and I'm really enjoying it.

I'm not a natural crafter. I haven't an ounce of creativity in me but I do find it relaxing to do. I'm rubbish at counting stitches and rows but have just discovered corner to corner and am making my first proper project - a blanket.

MerylSqueak · 15/01/2022 15:27

Hello @Hookalong Smile

Oo @crazyjinglist you've reminded me that I came across something I thought you would appreciate. My Norwegian colleague's mother was selling her traditional gloves before Christmas. I bought two pairs simply because of how neat they were on the reverse side. I thought you would admire. Can't wait to see how yours turn out.

crazyjinglist · 15/01/2022 16:12

Welcome @Hookalong! I'm not creative either. I think that's one if the things I love most about knitting and crochet - you are creating things, but you don't need to have the inspiration yourself!

Ooh they're great @MerylSqueak! I hope mine turn out ok... I'm not too worried about the Fairisle aspect as I'm pretty used to that now (though not with chunky yarn, so I hope my tension is ok). However I just looked at the instructions for separating for, and knitting, the thumb and it's got me scratching my head a bit. No doubt I'll be on here asking for help!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 15/01/2022 21:30

Ooh @crazyjinglist, not sure if it's close to you but just saw this m.facebook.com/groups/1046007922083052/permalink/5494923890524744/?ref=m_notif&notif_t=group_highlights

Beautiful jumper @NiceCardigan!

I like your bag @catwomando! How did you find the noro to work with? I've heard mixed reports!

lucysmam · 15/01/2022 21:45

Hi Hookalong!

Flavia I've got to say I'm quite happy they don't expect trousers/more formal wear.

That's a shame about your course lazy, it'll be worth it when you get there though, and we're looking forward to hearing about it!

Those gloves are beautiful Merly, I would have been tempted to buy some too.

I've just done four rounds of sock 2. I've decided I like the leg bits less than the foot bits of socks -they're less of a challenge Confused

catwomando · 15/01/2022 21:49

@NiceCardigan I love that jumper so much!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 15/01/2022 22:02

Oh cazy I just saw your course was cancelled! What a shame but at least it's ahead of you!
