My interview's tomorrow. Our Deputy Head, who is one of the two people conducting the interviews, was giving me hints and tips yesterday 🤣

I wouldn't mind being in my 20's again sometimes @CrochetBug! One of the ladies who does Rainbows with me was surprised on Tuesday when I mentioned it in general birthday related chat; she thought I was a fair bit younger than her mum!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 06/01/2022 13:55

Hmm now I know about dead pixels I probably need to find some high brow sites (that don’t bore me to death) in case I get dead pixels. Poor DS though crcohetbug, can’t be very cool to have MN burned onto your screen if you’re a teenage boy.

lucymam good luck for the interview and happy birthday for the weekend. Potentially a lot to celebrate 🤞my plans for weekend have been cancelled, I was going to see my friend who DD decided to hate crash her birthday and share with her, but she’s been in contact with someone with covid 🙄 I feel like to make any plans at the minute you have to get 5 dates in the diary and assume at least one will have to be cancelled because one of you has double booked, one will have to be cancelled because one of you is sick but not covid and two will be cancelled because one or both of you will have covid or have been in contact with someone. This is our second set of plans that we’ve cancelled for this weekend. The first was that DH’s parents were meant to be coming over to meet DD for the first time. I guess I’ll revert to my generic covid plans of eating chocolate digestives and spending an age on Netflix deciding what to watch next.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 06/01/2022 14:00

Urgh, that was an unfortunate typo/autocorrect…

gate crash her birthday.

It’s not as bad as my A-Level Law coursework on law and morality. I meant to write that morality was heavily influenced by religion and instead I wrote that mortality was heavily influenced by religion. My teacher wrote a comment that this was a very bold statement to be making at a Catholic sixth form.

crazyjinglist · 06/01/2022 14:13

Grin @InTheNightWeWillWish

Today is my last day before work starts up again, and it's likely to be very busy with staff absences inevitable. So I was meant to be getting lots done today. Instead I have faffed about, mooched on MN eaten too many crisps and made a plum crumble cake Hmm. I think I must be setting some kind of record - multiple New Year's resolutions, all broken by Twelfth Night Grin.

CrochetBug · 06/01/2022 14:34

@InTheNightWeWillWish tbh it's so faint on DS' phone that it's barely there. I certainly never noticed it when it was mine. But if you look really hard you can just about see the magnifying glass in the bottom corner.

I made another sale today Grin My CAL blanket! Yay me

lucysmam · 06/01/2022 16:10

🤣 InTheNight, I missed your typo! Dd2 nearly gatecrashed Christmas day!

We haven't made any actual plans with other people for a long time now & tbh, I quite like it this way. Bit different when it's meeting a beautiful new granddaughter for the first time though!

Well done on the sale @CrochetBug; I hope you're wandring round grinning from ear to ear again!

@MerylSqueak @lazylinguist any suggestions for questions for me to ask tomorrow? I've worked there for almost 6 years now & usually know most of what's going on because I'm nosey so I'm a bit stumped other than asking about further development/courses (although I'm currently in the midst of five utterly thrilling online courses they want us to complete in our own time 🙄🤔). Glad I'm not teaching staff tbh, their list of "to-complete" was longer than ours was.

MerylSqueak · 06/01/2022 18:26

Hmm in that situation, I'm not sure @lucysmam. How about something to do with COVID planning or if there's some kind of training you could do to help with the new intake of students for next year.

Don't forget to go over the school's safeguarding policy. That's always a dead cert. And definitely think if answers along the lines of the hints you have had because I assume they've already planned the questions they'll ask.

Grin @crazyjinglist. You've only got a couple of years on me. And yes, you must be young at heart.

Head of our school has beaten fear into everyone inadvertently by telling us we all need to prioritize taking care of our mental health. Well meant, but everyone just wondered what the hell we are in for!

I have a really stupid simple game I play a lot as it relaxes me. I don't even look at the score. DH does and is trying to catch me. I'm about 200 000 points ahead of him apparently Grin

Myshitisreal · 07/01/2022 01:25

Hi all, wow I've read weeks and weeks worth today. Funny reading the pre Christmas panics now post Christmas. Please tell me I'm not the only one still with a tree up (and in no rush to take it down 😂). I've been lusting after jack skellington tree decorations for years (the disney box) and I only got the tree decorated on Christmas eve due to last minute delivery! So I'm going to keep it up longer. I've always gone against tradition like that.... My Christmas tree and its wonderful light brings a certain special happiness to my days and things feel very dark at the minute.

I made this scarf before christmas as a gift. I've started gloves to match so you can see the cuffs. I need her hands though. This is for the same girl I made the blue cable cardigan for. Something very cathartic about making ribbing. I tried slip stitch ribbing and just couldn't get it

Very pleased with the scarf, the texture is lovely. I got the stitch from a crochet stitch book I bought which is very pleasing. The scarf is a 220cm long.

Im working on a new crazy cardigan so I think I'll post that when it's finished. It's quite out of the ordinary. Actually truth be told I'm a bit stuck. I have a large rectangle (portrait) which I need to make into a cardigan. The tension on the back piece is stiff due to the technique used. I'm confused about what to do next. How to size it. What to do next. Tempted to just start the front panels joined onto the back. I think the back is big enough 😭 I don't know what I'm doing.

Loving seeing everyones works. Some really beautiful stuff. We have new posters as well 👋 which is lovely to see.

We're all such a talented bunch 😂 😘😘

Special shout out to @lucysmam. ❤️ For you tomorrow. Knock em dead! You've got this. 🙏 🤞

Thanks @Myshitisreal

Loving seeing all the photos & hearing what everyone is doing

InTheNightWeWillWish · 07/01/2022 06:14

Good luck for today lucysmam!

Myshitisreal I love the stitch on your scarf, that’s so lovey. My tree is down, it came down around New Year. It wasn’t as well decorated this year - I’m one of those that every decoration has a place - DH did it while I looked after a 2 week old and I just couldn’t be bothered to direct him or put him right. I was fed up off at looking at it after Christmas Day though. I was tempted to keep the fairy lights on the stairs but we use the end of the bannister as a coat stand and I wanted that back! I think there’s still a Father Christmas on the hearth that has escaped the boxes though.

crochetbug congratulations on the sale of your CAL. My CAL fell off the couch and the one of the dogs claimed it in their bed, really glad I spent all that time in counting corner trying to get it right for it be a dog blanket 🙄

MrsWhites · 07/01/2022 07:55

Hi @Myshitisreal 👋

Hope everyone is doing well.

I’m working on a cardigan for my neice (due next month) this week, not got very far but finished the bottom detailed bit without too many problems so happy with it so far.

crazyjinglist · 07/01/2022 08:26

Good luck @lucysmam - hope it goes brilliantly!

lucysmam · 07/01/2022 09:38

That's pretty @MrsWhites 🥰

Thanks for the good luck vibes...I'm a bit nervous now. Strange isn't it; work in a place for almost 6 years & have an interview with people you know (and a bunch of supportive colleagues - even the one I didn't think would help me out!), and know your "task" is to read to kids you see every day, but still get nerves 🤣Confused

I'm just having a coffee before leaving. It's only a short walk so hopefully no more rain/snow for now so I don't look like a drowned rat when I get there 🤞🙄

NiceCardigan · 07/01/2022 10:54

Fingers crossed for you @lucysmam

I can see everyone has been busy - lots of lovely stuff being made!

I'm doing something very exciting next week, I've signed up for a crochet course that takes place over 5 sessions of 2 hours on Tuesday afternoons. The only cost was a nominal registration fee as its funded by the local council as part of its adult learning program. I'm hoping I may actually be able to follow a crochet pattern at the end of it. The course is full now and I've had my joining instructions so hopefully it will be good.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 07/01/2022 10:58

Good luck lucysmam!!

lucysmam · 07/01/2022 15:15

Omg! I got the job 🤣 Potentially to start on Monday morning in EYFS depending how quickly they can do references & DBS Confused 🤯

(They gave me pointers all the way through & the EY staff picked nice kids for me to read to! Feedback was really good & I can keep my existing KS2 lunch time hours because they don't want to lose me from there).

I'm chuffed to bits!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 07/01/2022 15:25

Woohoo lucysmam congratulations! 🎉🎉 Double celebrations this weekend then! Hope you have some nice plans!
