Thanks lazy I might have to take you up on that offer. As it’s amigurumi, I can kind of work it out based on the stitch count. One line of the pattern is: 3. Rd Jede 2. M verdoppeln = 18 M

I think it’s: Round 3, single crochet 2, single crochet increase and repeat to end -18 stitches (based on a stitch count of 12 in the previous round) but I’m struggling with some of the more difficult shaping bits Grin I do not speak German. I did French and Spanish at school, I left with Bs in both and other than occasionally reading a menu, I’ve not used either of those languages since.

lucysmam · 14/11/2021 21:59

Ah, that's a shame about the shawl Flavia but at least you didn't spend ages on it, second guessing yourself.

Oysterbabe the octopus is cute! You're really fast!

InTheNight, that's frustrating about the book being in German. I wouldn't have a clue where to start with that Confused

Sorry to see you're struggling sophs Brew.

I used a different PVA to block my second house & it hasn't dried as stiff as the first. I tried gently painting some more on earlier but it still seems a bit erm...floppy 🙈. I've run out of the Wilko stuff I used for the first though, that was the dregs of the bottle. I'm not sure whether to add a little more PVA, or make a new water/PVA mix using some of the giant, 5L, bottle I have lurking & see if that helps 🤷‍♀️

I saw discussion on a fb group late last week (I think) about sugar being used so am going to do some googling before the mansion's finished and see what I find.

CrochetBug · 14/11/2021 22:07

Sorry you're struggling @sophs29 I hope tomorrow is a little brighter.

@Oysterbabe that octopus is lovely. I love doing amigurumi but find it hard on my wrists/ fingers so don't do as much as I like.

I made a catboy for my nephew a couple of years ago. I translated the pattern from Spanish (I think). I don't speak any Spanish at all so it took a while!

I made my first etsy sale yesterday!!! Mega excitement chez Bug as a result.

Spent today at a stamping/papercraft show with my friend. I was very good and only bought 7 stamps, 4 of which were on sale and the other 3 were on offer. I think I spent more on a sausage roll at lunch time Grin

lazylinguist · 14/11/2021 22:11

That bit literally means "3rd round, double every 2 stitches = 18 stitches". I guess verdoppeln (to double) just means 'increase' in crochet terminology then!

I've finished the ribbed brim on dh's hat and moved onto the stocking stitch. I've done the few plain rows and am about to start the wide Fairisle band. I'm not sure whether to go up a needle size for the Fairisle bit as instructed or not. Some of the Ravelers who made it said not to.

Hi all. I've finished my second crochet cable cardigan last week so it took me 3 weeks with a few days neglect. (Carol hladik pattern)

I've yet to give it to the intended. We've had a rough week or two with illness, husband first, then me, then both our birthdays, our wedding anniversary, plus I'm still really unwell. So blah blah, need to get myself on the frame of mind to see people and get rid of it.

Im bordering my crazy skull mosaic blanket I made at the start of this year. Boy that's been a job. I'm uhhhh maybe 20 hours into the border (envelope border, first time). Now I've decided (like a lunatic) to add panels on each side to make it wider. This could go horribly wrong. It was 3kg pre border and its actually a lovely weight on the bed at night. My husband was singing its virtues 🥰

I also made mum a cowl. She asked for sparkly buttons so I've bought actual swarovski buttons... But I'm assuming they don't be machine washable so I can't work out how to proceed. 🤔 I've also been making water bottle holders and gave a few to friends at work.

There was also a serious lovecraft sale related incident, which lead to me buying an insane amount of wool to make myself projects 🥰 i never made my self lollipop f anything for years so why not. No one else will 😂

So much going on in the thread. Sending much love to those unwell or under the weather. Sending fuzzy baby vibes for Friday. Congratulations for etsy sale (what was it??), and a special welcome to @oysterbabe who seems absolutely phenomenal at crochet/amigurumi already!

Wow, you sound busy with projects @Myshitisreal! That cardigan is stunning, and I love the colour. A cardigan is another thing I've never made! There was a kind of sleeveless hooded one I posted a while back that I want to make, but my wishlist is too long!

I'm also just so slow! I was going to have 3 projects on the go this time, as they are smaller, but I'm making such slow progress with the hat that I'm having second thoughts about adding anything else!

sophs29 · 15/11/2021 07:47

Thank you everyone 😘 I just need to change my mindset I think and then I'll be good to go!

@InTheNightWeWillWish I also use an old jam jar for my water 😂 and I do watercolours too, I have a little travel watercolour set though which is really handy and fits in my pencil case! I'm assuming your MIL didn't mean to get you the book in German? 😬 what a pain in the bum!

Congratulations @CrochetBug on your first sale! Thats such good news! Also which stamps did you get? ☺️ my mum hoards stamps and I've persuaded her to sell a lot of stuff in the new year to make room (and funds) for all the new hobbies she's taking up 😂

@Myshitisreal that cardigan is amazing! Your work always looks so professional!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 15/11/2021 08:01

myshitisreal lovely cardigan, that’s a lovely colour. You’ve been busy with projects and unlike me you have many WIPs but actually finish them Grin

crochetbug congratulations on the Etsy sale. What was it?

sophs it was actually my mum. She didn’t mean to order it and is really confused as to how ordering an English book from Amazon.co.uk, from an English book supplier has defaulted to German Grin

NiceCardigan · 15/11/2021 08:13

You are very productive myshitisreal !

I haven’t had much time for knitting lately as I’ve had so much work to do. I’m in the last month of my current work contract and I don’t know if it will be extended so I took on a bit extra which I’m regretting now. Me and DH are about to go away for a few days and will probably just eat and drink away the extra money I’ve earned.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 15/11/2021 09:15

Belated Happy Birthday myshitisreal! Sorry you've had a crappy few weeks though, hope you get to celebrate your birthdays and anniversary properly soon Brew Wow, your cardigan is fantastic! It's beautiful work!

Congratulations CrochetBug! Thats so cool! Grin

My gauge gets looser rather than tighter on fairisle lazy, so I never switch up needles...

Have a lovely break NiceCardigan!

lazylinguist · 15/11/2021 11:34

So sorry you were ill for your birthday and anniversary @Myshitisreal . I hope you'll be having belated celebrations when you're feeling up to it!

@Myshitisreal that cardigan is beautiful. Sorry you've been so ill, but happy birthday and anniversary CakeFlowers

Here's my stamps that I bought yesterday, I only spent £7.50 in total. I could have spent hundreds. If I had hundreds that is Grin

CrochetBug · 15/11/2021 14:09

Or here's not my stamps. MN is so shit for uploading photos! Let's try again

And this is the cardigan I've sold. It's my first ever Tunisian project. But now I'm paranoid it won'tbe the right size. Or that she'll hate it Blush

Nobody could possibly hate that, @CrochetBug - it's adorable!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 15/11/2021 16:23

That’s super cute crochetbug they won’t hate it. Congrats on the sale.

Oysterbabe · 15/11/2021 19:47

Ah that's gorgeous Crochetbug I'm sure they'll be delighted.

Thanks for the encouragement every one. Amigurumi immediately appealed to me because I'm just a big kid really. I know lots of small children I can gift to and when I run out of those I might start leaving them in the playground with one of those notes from Random Acts of Crochet Kindness.

I've made a lot of progress with my Teddy bear already, just his arms and legs to go. I'm still waiting on the yarn for the project I'm really looking forward to starting, should arrive tomorrow or the day after.

sophs29 · 15/11/2021 20:58

@CrochetBug lovely stamps and that cardigan is soooo cute! I bet the recipient will be chuffed to bits!!

Sorry @Oysterbabe I missed your octopus! Very cute! I love the little face, so much expression!

lucysmam · 15/11/2021 21:42

Aw CrochetBug, it's lovely! Don't doubt yourself :)

I've re-pinned the second house in the hopes it'll dry better today 🤞 and made the fourth side for the mansion house. I was going to do the door too but I think I'm tired...I just couldn't get it to work 🤷‍♀️ so that's a job for before work!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 16/11/2021 17:05

That is amazingly cute CrochetBug, whoever bought it will love it!

I missed your question before Meryl, I bought that fibre already dyed, I do sometimes dye yarn but not fibre...

MerylSqueak · 16/11/2021 22:45

I'm being a bit rubbish at keeping up. Just wanted to say I hope you're feeling better @sophs29

The cardigan is super cute @CrochetBug. I'm sure they'll love it.

Spent the evening putting tassels on my green scarf. It's not as much fun as I remembered! I haven't quite finished the knitting yet but wanted to make sure I reserved enough yarn so I did one end.

I hope your house works out @lucysmam Smile

CrochetBug · 16/11/2021 23:58

Thanks for the positives on my cardigan, just a lack of confidence now I've actually made a sale! I included a nice hand written card and 10% off code in the hope she'll buy more (she has 'favourited' a couple of blankets) Grin

How are you feeling today @sophs29?

sophs29 · 17/11/2021 08:12

Thank you for asking @MerylSqueak & @CrochetBug 😘 still feeling pretty much the same - unmotivated. I don't have the time to do much and we're currently waiting for our new sofa to be delivered so we only have two little chairs in the living room, so I can't get comfy to crochet either! I'm just a moany old cow basically haha! 😂
