Very basic sewing machine recommendations

Can anyone recommend a basic machine suitable for minor tasks, hemming etc?

I just need the basic of the basic. I did get my proficiency on the sewing machine cert at school in 1981 but have forgotten most of it.

Elna and Janome are brilliant machines.
