Marie Claire Magazine free bag Crafts Challenge

Yesterday I bought Marie Claire Magazine and the free give away for the month is a canvas tote/shopping bag with the slogan "Plastic ain't my bag" the reverse side is blank and I thought it would make a great crafts challenge to decorate. I just used a fabric pen to decore mine a Willow Tree Bag on my blog, but its open to anything you can think to do with it. paint it, sew on buttons, fabric flowers what ever you can think to craft. obviously you need to buy the magazine if you don't already have it.

post your finished items here if you think its a good idea.

happy crafting

p.s. sorry the pictures on my blog aren't great, the downstairs light fuse went last night, i'll try and retake the pics soon.

I am so rubbish at sewing and those bugle beads dont behave themselves lol.

Meridian · 23/11/2007 10:13

nbg- i am probably worse at sewing, i never took home ec sewing and stuff in school, and my mother never taught me... I can badly sew on a button, but have never been near a sewing machine.... god I'm useless

I dont believe that!

I keep looking at those little elf shoes and I really want to make them but think I mess it up with the stitching.

Meridian · 23/11/2007 10:20

nbg- no its true my sewing is quite atrocious.. perhaps we should get gingermonkey or one of the other girls thats great at sewing to give us some lessons? that is if I can be taught

I paint, draw, and cook/bake pretty well, i just never learned the finer ladylike arts!

lol

See I did Textiles and Art at school and went on to study fashion design.
I have no excuse!

I have a plain canvas sat next to me too atm and I dont know what to do with it.
I know where I want to put it but not what to put on it lol

Meridian · 23/11/2007 11:03

LOL I have a bunch of blank canvases hidden in the attic somewhere, and I have 1 or two that i have painted but i hate and need to re-paint. and a stach of ones that i have painted but they have nowhere to live on my walls and I don't know what to do with them. feeling a bit crap today no inspiration what so ever, a filthy house, and just feeling a bit um... overlooked by everyone.. dunno..

I have a pad of canvas primed sheets might try to do something on one of them, it might be nice framed.. after i finish the housework... still have no where for it to live...

I have now bought the mag (imo - what a waste of paper) and of course the bag - now just need to think how to decorate it!!

Thought I might use the logo I had designed by a lady on here and somehow applique it on

Meridian · 24/11/2007 09:15

dizzy-- sometimes the mag has some really good articles that are about really life, but to be honest I really like to look at hand bags

good luck

I've done mine. Except I like it too much to put it on the Marie Claire bag! It deserves one all of its own...

SoupDragon · 25/11/2007 20:17

Here. The little silver leaves and the jewels are recycled from 2 pairs of Pat Butcheresque earrings!

Gingermonkey · 25/11/2007 20:35

great santa, thanks.

soupy - that's beautiful. I hate to think what those earrings were like though!!! [shudder]

Fubsy · 25/11/2007 20:37

Soupy, thats lovely! I like the way youve shaped the letters of the logo.

SoupDragon · 25/11/2007 21:12

They were quality earrings! (the jewels and the leaves came from different pairs though, I don't know if that makes it better or worse...) They look far better split up and sewn on a tree though

I have achieved nothing else all day

Gingermonkey · 25/11/2007 21:54

what is particularly worrying is that you owned the earrings in the first place! But, like you say - reuse, recycle

SoupDragon · 26/11/2007 09:27

Charity shop

Meridian · 26/11/2007 12:08

soupy-- love the design.. though I must say there is something positive about me never having gotten my ears piereced

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 26/11/2007 12:30

Oh, I don't have pierced ears either, I don't wear earrings at all.
