Sewing on curtain header tape by hand, new to this so need tips please.

Hi, dummies guide appreciated. I'm making a basic small pair of bedroom window curtains. As I'm sewing by hand and it's my first time making curtains I did not want to tackle lined ones. Could you please advise in basic steps the best way of attaching the header tape? I looked at something on line and it was saying to overlap the tape at the ends of each side by about 2 inch and tuck the rest in?

Have a look at this link as you're doing unlined you'll be seeing direct onto the fabric rather than the lining.
