But she's not really a pretty bow kind of girl!

I really like the Deramores pewter aran I used for the stars...think I can see another purchase coming on when their own yarn is on offer. Not sure what for yet but I'll find something for myself!

sophs29 · 12/04/2021 07:40

Yes definitely @eitak22 he did offer to replace all of the ones he spilt coffee on but I said no as I didn't want to waste these!

@lucysmam could you not make an extra little star and put that on the ribbon instead of a bow? bet she's going to love it! Hope the patch comes today!

lucysmam · 12/04/2021 11:30

@sophs29 that's perfect! I've just made an extra star before I head to work & found some nice labels.

I'm not sure if anyone at work has fancy script ish handwriting so am going to pop them in my bag & ask one of the older ladies what their writing's like 🤣

sophs29 · 12/04/2021 12:02

Haha good idea @lucysmam Grin

InTheNightWeWillWish · 12/04/2021 12:15

Glad the coffee has come out sophs how is drying going?

Sorry, lucysmam I vent remember if this is a surprise for your DD or if she expecting it? For my mum, I used an organza bag from one of my WW orders. Upside of giving that to your daughter is she’ll probably hand you the bag back whereas my mum will definitely be using that to store her yarn in Grin

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 12/04/2021 12:59

Oh phew sophs, glad it came out!

That came out so well lucysmam! Your DD will be thrilled Smile

sophs29 · 12/04/2021 14:25

@InTheNightWeWillWish so far so good on the drying front! Its full sun here today so they're hanging outside for now! Would be just my luck a bird will crap on them or something 🙄😂

lucysmam · 12/04/2021 19:02

@InTheNightWeWillWish it's a surprise. I think I'm just going to tie it with some of the pewter aran (folded nicely, obvs), and attach the star & label with the quote "You put me on and said I was your favourite" sort of central ish.

Thanks Flavia it was worth persevering with the pattern, frustrating as it was!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 12/04/2021 19:12

lucysmam that’ll be a lovely surprise for her!

sophs 😂 hopefully they’ve dried without further incidents

lazylinguist · 13/04/2021 18:02

What a lovely surprise, @lucysmam! @sophs29 - I hope the birds stayed away. Grin

I'm in the mood for a bit of a stash sort this evening, in advance of my trip to the yarn shop tomorrow ! My knitting/crochet stuff is currently split between two rooms and quite disorganised.

bruffin · 13/04/2021 18:44

That's brilliant Lucysmam!

sophs29 · 13/04/2021 18:46

Haha yes they did thank you Grin
The cotton seems to have dried well, I won't know until I actually attempt to use it though!

@lazylinguist I'd be so excited too! I haven't ventured into any shops yet but I can't wait - Especially craft shops and charity shops! I love them! Enjoy organising Smile

lazylinguist · 13/04/2021 19:12

I've finished organising and am feeling a bit guilty about going to buy new yarn tomorrow Blush. My stash probably isn't as big as some people's, but still. I have two bags this size (cat included for scale Grin). The bag in the picture is all dk, so actually I'm going to be using lots of it to make the odds and ends crochet basket upthread (maybe more than one!), so maybe I don't need to feel so guilty...?

No I wouldn't feel guilty lazy, as you say, you'll use a lot of it for those baskets!

I would feel guilty about having it all in bags though so your cat can't play with them Grin

lazylinguist · 13/04/2021 20:08

No way is my cat getting his paws on my yarn! Actually he's not that interested. He prefers hair bobbles - they're his favourite. And also a particular fish in one of our two Hmm aquariums. He still hasn't realised he can't catch it through the glass. He is definitely the dimmest (and clumsiest) cat I've had, bless him!

lucysmam · 13/04/2021 20:18

lazy I wouldn't feel guilty at all -you have plans for what you have that will give you something useful, and what you planned to buy will give you something lovely to wear! Plus; the small, local, shops need our custom right now to keep afloat :) Your cat does sound funny Grin dd1 was trying her best to convince me need one yesterday 🤔

Thanks bruffin!

I haven't actually given it to dd yet - the patch hasn't arrived 🙄 & I only found someone to write the quote label today.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 13/04/2021 21:14

lazy my rule is that I don’t have to feel guilty about the size of my rash as long as most balls have a project assigned to them. I might get stuck on this one though with my tendency to overbuy wool for a project and when you’ve finished you’ve multiple spare balls with no project Blush I live your cat and how he seems to be permanently throwing you shade! Enjoy your trip to the wool shop tomorrow! I’m on a spending ban at the minute so as much as I’m longing to go and walk round the posh wool shop in town, I’m going to refrain.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 13/04/2021 21:18

Jeez, typos much 🤦‍♀️

Feel guilty about the size of my stash (if it’s the size of my rash I should probably see the GP).

When I’ve finished a project and I’ve multiple spare balls left with no project for them.

I love your cat.

lazylinguist · 13/04/2021 21:40

Grin My cat is honestly an idiot. He's lost his collar today too, which is especially annoying because as well as having his name and our phone number on it, it had a massive, loud bell to stop him catching birds. It's so loud that I can hear him in the garden when I'm upstairs in bed! Without it, he's a surprisingly effective hunter considering what a clumsy arse he is! My daft dog seems spectacularly intelligent by comparison, and at least he's too big to climb on my lap and stick his tail in my face while I'm trying to knit!

Hello all! Sorry I have been missing but we took a last minute trip to Utah to go skiing and it was amazing. We needed something like that as just being home was getting my DH down. It was great cause skiing is a good way to avoid others and the plane travel was surprisingly easy and felt safe with all their precautions.

@InTheNightWeWillWish - many many congratulations, how exciting!

@lazylinguist - the blanket looks so good. I love the way the colors look, nice choice!

I am back at my KAL and about 2 rows from finishing the first side. It is slow going as rugby season has also started and I have to drive my 16 year old to practice 3 times a week as well. But side 2 should not take too long to do.

BookShark · 14/04/2021 07:18

Lazy your stash is smaller than mine, so no need to feel guilty! Although, in my defence, I don't think I have any complete balls, as everything was bought for a project and then just not fully used. Which is why the stash buster basket is on my list to do at some point!

lazylinguist · 14/04/2021 07:55

Wow, a skiing trip, @spamm - how exciting! I've never been skiing. I've just managed to book a week's camping in Pembrokeshire in August though, so I'm quite excited about that. Also got a week in a house in Devon booked for the end of July with my extended family, assuming the rules go ahead as planned and we're allowed to mix multiple households by then! Anyone else got travel plans brewing yet?

Today's the day - I'm just going to double check how much yarn I need, then I'll be off to Lancaster this morning. The rest of the family have decided not to come, so I'm leaving dh in charge of children, dog-walking etc. It will be nice to have a leisurely wander round on my own and maybe an outdoor cup of tea!

spamm thank you. Glad you’ve managed to get away somewhere! That sounds lovely. I’ve never been skiing and I like to think I’d be that woman that gracefully glides down the slope and just looks chic and gorgeous. Given how clumsy I am, I’m more likely to be the cartoon character that rolls down the hill and ends up as one big snow ball at the bottom with skis poking out the top. Much to the disgust of great grandma who used to ski to school Grin

lazy no travel plans for us! The fence in our garden is one gust of wind from giving up completely (and we live in a windy area) so any would-be holiday funds are diverted to keeping the flight risk labrador contained! We’re about an hour away from the Norfolk broads and Norfolk coast, so I’m hoping we can get a few day trips out. Looking forward to taking flight risk labrador puppy for his first beach trip (on a long lead). Dog1 is about ready to call the RSPCA because she’s not been able to have fish and chips and an ice cream on the beach for months.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 14/04/2021 10:21

Have fun today lazy!

Sounds lovely spamm! It so nice to see a light at the end of the tunnel when things can become normal again!

We have the ferry booked for France to go camping but we’ll end up postponing it to next year again I think and go up to the Causeway coast instead if numbers have settled down and stay down.

NiceCardigan · 14/04/2021 10:28

Have fun today lazy

I’m on a train at the moment on my way to meet DD1 in Cambridge. It’s the nicest place between where we both live and a lovely day for sitting outside and having a coffee.

Me and DH are off to Devon for a week on Saturday. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a week away in the UK in April before!
