Oh I adore a leaf print! I don't think I'm brave enough to wear a jumpsuit. I've got a black store bought one in the wardrobe but it's too short to wear with anything but flip flops or sandals.

I reupholstered 10 gifted dining chairs, (front and backs as well as seats) intimidating and hard work but a total joy to complete. Incredibly satisfying. We have 2 armchairs though that are getting damaged by cat claws and I can see will need reupholstering in the future, but they're covered in buttons and the fabric is folded into the buttons in a decorative way and I can't imagine being able to replicate that, given my inexperience.

I’m going to give it a try for myself - only for summer with full length trousers. I’ve got a sewing pattern for a strappy version for me. Have got DD to try it on. It’s still a bit long despite me sizing down once already (I’ve made it three times before!!)

That is a lovely print @iggly and perfect for a jumpsuit. I have a few pairs of bought trousers in bold prints that I virtually live in and I can imagine a pair in that print very easily

kittykarate · 02/06/2021 10:38

That's a great print Iggly. I love how jumpsuits look (on other people!).

The problem with my blouse is the slight twist is obvious due to the pattern, the hem goes from being through a line of shapes to being below them. Ah well, it was only cheap material (£1.99 a m) and it's fine for wearing around the house.

NutellaEllaElla · 02/06/2021 15:34

Blimey @iggly that looks brilliant! Well done.

Wildernesstips · 02/06/2021 22:00

Love that jumpsuit Iggly. I would love to make one for me but I’m not sure about the whole “undressing to have a wee” thing.

Wildernesstips · 02/06/2021 22:03

This is my latest make - the Deer & Doe Myosotis (without the collar). The snaps need repositioning but I wore it out anyway! I love it and would make it again but I seriously need a break from all that gathering.

Currently cutting out a Burda sundress.

Love it @Wildernesstips - that fabrics a great choice. It looks very boho and dreamy.

My gatherings gotten better. I make sure I’ve marked where the quarters need to match and use a contrast colour in the bobbin so I know which one I’m pulling.

Nice one too @Iggly. I’ve made a couple of jumpsuits - one of them had a zip at the back which made going to the loo a complete chore, the other was made of stretchy ponte Roma which was a big help. Having a stretchy waist helps a lot!

Wildernesstips · 03/06/2021 05:41

That is such a good idea re: the different colour bobbin thread, thanks.

Jins · 03/06/2021 06:41

My gathering always lets me down so I’m practicing how to do it on the overlocker. I think I’ve nailed the technique on test pieces but time will tell

Ulysses · 03/06/2021 07:08

Oh Id like to find out more about that. I’ve got a gathering foot for my normal machine but can never figure out how to get the right tension.

NutellaEllaElla · 03/06/2021 07:38

Love that floaty dress! Beautiful colours.

Jins · 03/06/2021 07:46

@Ulysses on the overlocker it’s easy. You need to tighten the tension on both needles and increase the differential. The gathers form when you stitch. You don’t need the gathering foot.

You can adjust stitch length to alter the gathers and if you need them tighter you can pull on one of the needle threads.

It’s a game changer

NutellaEllaElla · 03/06/2021 08:04

I haven't tried a rolled hem or gathering on the overlocker. Sounds like I should.

Jins · 03/06/2021 08:35

I’m not sure about rolled hems on an overlocker. They look a bit unfinished to my old school eyes. Perfect for chiffon though and when I finally get round to using my mystery box chiffon it will be finished that way.

Faux flatlock hems are going to be my go to t shirt hemming technique unless the fabric will work with twin needles

Can you tell I love my new overlocker Grin

Drinkingallthewine · 03/06/2021 13:37

I've started the toile for my boiled wool coat. I was really hesitant at cutting up a blanket just for a toile but found a box of offcuts of quilt batting - perfect for the job - it's similar thickness and non fray like the wool.

After that I got sidetracked by sports bags. I want a cheerful one and not a fan of branding all over it. So I'll make my own. I got the bag hardware in the local shop and will pick out the fabric when I go in to pick up my order.

Iggly · 03/06/2021 14:59

😂😂 so true!

Iggly · 03/06/2021 14:59

(Sorry that’s in response to the “undressing for a wee comment”)

NutellaEllaElla · 03/06/2021 16:49

Hmm, it appears that I have got stuck by indecision. I haven't done any sewing today when i had planned to. I have the day tomorrow but to be fair, I still can't decide what i'm doing.

Jins · 03/06/2021 16:51

@NutellaEllaElla we are going to need a new thread for your next project

NutellaEllaElla · 03/06/2021 17:06

Ah yes, I didn't know we were so close to full!

This way everyone, hold hands with a buddy to make sure no one gets lost... Grin Here's thread 3!

Drinkingallthewine · 03/06/2021 17:10

Can I ask a question?
I need to move my bust darts and I'm confused. The pink arrow is the new dart point.
Do I change it to the blue or green lines?

@Drinkingallthewine, may I suggest that you ask again on the next thread as this one only has room for one more post! The link is in the post before yours.
