...what do you do?
Or should I work with something like salt dough instead?
I’m thinking of modelling, rather than throwing.

If you do a spot of googling you may find kiln firing services near you that can take care of that bit!

Thank you @10001namechanges I didn’t even know that was a thing. What paint/glaze can you use to finish things if you’re not kiln drying them, if you don’t mind me asking?

I’ve got some air drying clay for exactly this reason - inspired by the throw down! There are some trendy websites now ( I went with sculptd I think) but any air drying clay would do. It came with acrylic paints and sealant, as well as some tools and paint brushes - the paints are nice enough, but I think any acrylic plus something like modge podge sealant would do the job?

Good tip is to put the clay between 2 layers of baking paper when rolling it out so it doesn’t fecking stick to everything including work surface and rolling pin...

Some work in progress if the photos upload.

The good thing about clay is splatting it if it goes wrong and starting again!

You can also make beautiful air drying clay with bicarbonate of soda, corn flour and water.
