Hi, I'm an experienced knitter and have bought an on line Sirdar pattern - the 'stitches and abbreviations' only include very basic abbreviations eg foll, rep etc. The pattern states T5BP and I cannot remember what this is, can anyone help? Also appears to include C2BW and T3F I'm really annoyed I've paid for the pattern and the abbreviations don't cover what's in it?! Any help gratefully received, I've googled but still not able to find out Confused

I am an experienced knitter and have no idea too. Is it a cable pattern? Lace? C usually means cable 2 B (back of stitch)? F front?

purlavenue.com/knitting-abbreviations

This link might help you, has lots on it!

T5BP seems to be twist five back purl but that's beyond my knitting skills!

Thanks both of you, it's an Aran pattern, I've done lots of Aran before and it's probably in another pattern somewhere, I might have to try and hunt out old patterns, I think it's bad such a big company have sold the pattern without including quite complex instructions! 😡

Which pattern is it?

And when you say you bought an online pattern do you mean a genuine digital pattern created by Sirdar, or is it a scanned copy of a paper pattern?

Who did you buy it from?

I would check that there's not a separate set of instructions for 'special stitches'. These may be in a completely separate place to the abbreviations list.

If they're definitely not there then you can contact the seller to point this out and ask for the missing instructions.

Or you could contact Sirdar directly with the same request if it's a genuine Sirdar download.

@MarmiteWine it's a digital download I bought from the Sirdar website, I would struggle to read on my phone so emailed it to myself then printed it out. I paid £2.99, not much I know but I'd expect to get full instructions, I'll attach a copy of the abbreviations. I've sussed it out now but I don't think I should have to do this much research 😂

I'd double check that the instructions aren't perhaps at the end of the instructions. Sometimes this happens because of formatting issues.

Also make sure you printed all the instructions and check there wasn't a separate pdf with the special stitches.

But if they're definitely not there then I'd email Sirdar to let them know. It could be an oversight, but you absolutely shouldn't have to go looking elsewhere.

Lovely pattern though! I look forward to seeing your finished sweater Smile

NotMeNoNo · 20/01/2021 23:21

how annoying when things aren't properly explained. Sometimes with a complicated pattern the specific abbreviations or the "pattern panel" are in a different part of the instructions, I guess you already checked that.

You mentioned that you e now worked it out but I too recently bought this pattern and I’m trying to work out all the abbreviations. Could you help me please?
