Baby blanket pattern

I've just had some great news - my stepson and his wife are expecting their first baby! I'm looking for a nice, interesting crochet pattern for a pretty, delicate blanket for the crib. I've looked on Ravelry and everything seems so chunky or dull and not what I'm looking for. Any recommendations?

So what kind of thing are you looking for - it sounds as if you want something quite modern and maybe not too fussy?

How about Big Dots Little Dots or Brioche Waves or Oh My Blanket?

If you've only been searching Rav for blankets, don't forget that most blankets are made up of squares so you might also want to search on Afghan blocks for ideas.

You can also look at scarves or shawls and then just adapt them to be wider - I particularly like Cherries for this.

Congratulations on your family news!

Thanks - I was thinking something that looked clean and had a bit of decorative stitch, but wasn't just plain or looked too much like a load of granny squares. I don't think I've described what I want very well have I?! They aren't finding out the sex of the baby so it will be in neutral colours, which makes the pattern more important i think. Something you can't just buy from a shop is kind of the vibe I'm going for. I like that Cherries pattern but wonder if tiny baby fingers may get caught in it?

Okay so maybe something with a bit of texture to it, so you could do it all in one colour if you wanted to? Something like the texture on this hat might be nice or Polly Plum does some good textured patterns.

I also just noticed these two in trending patterns Stepping Stones and Noelle

There's also La Petite Grise - I've linked to my project there as I didn't do all the rather fussy flowers on it. If you like this one, let me know - finding the pattern in English involved a bit of guesswork.

Probably too chunky for you but I love this

I've seen Tinna's patterns done in Schjeepes Whirls which would be lighter and would wash well.

One of my favourites is the Which Way Filet blanket. It's very simple but would look fab in a slow colour fade lightweight yarn.

bigbadbox that looks lovely! It's not quite what I'm after for this project but I've saved the link because I can see that being perfect for my sister when she moves into her new place.

I am planning to make this one in multiple colours. I think it would look good in a single colour or with a gradient yarn too.
