Pattern calls for particular 'make and model' of wool - possibly because it appears on the website of that brand!
But it doesn't really appeal.

Can I use a different wool? What are the key things to match?

I was wondering if it might be a misprint too- you'd usually get more like 24 rows with that stitch count. Interesting that AY weren't at Ally Pally, they might have needed bodyguards judging by some of the posts I've read elsewhere

Tigaaaarghna · 16/10/2007 12:06

Are you referring to the row count on the pattern or the yarn being wrong? Because the pattern count is for the type of stitch to be used for the pattern rather than the normal stst. If that helps....it may not...

Yes, maybe that's why, the pattern is like half way between stocking and garter stitch, isn't it, so that would give you more rows per cm. You'd probably be alright with anything that's 16 sts per 10 cm as long as you swatched to check.

yes i did shw - i specifically looked for them because i wanted to see if i could speak to someone in charge. were you going to as well?

screaminghousewife · 16/10/2007 20:14

Oh yes, I did think about mentioning it.
That makes me sound a bit sad and grudge holding, doesn't it

The website should say "Here is a list of things we might or might not be able to obtain for you if you wait long enough"

screaminghousewife · 16/10/2007 20:27

Not sure I should say this but, they emailed me to tell me that mine was in post, after waiting 3 weeks, I checked progress only for it to say that they were waiting for it to be ordered. After a month of emails which didn't get answered, I phoned them to be told that it had been in stock the whole time!

warthog · 16/10/2007 20:37

they didn't respond to my suggestion to have an indication of whether yarn was in stock. they didn't respond to my complaint about not responding.

it took them 2 weeks to refund my credit card for something i'd ordered 5 weeks before.

i'm pretty pissed off, because you know the extreme excitement at the prospect of a new project is just met with weeks of disappointment when the post comes and it's not there. i'm like a kid at christmas, except i've got the day wrong. pathetic, i know...

ok, so i'll stop being bitter now.

We'll be bitter old harlots together, shall we
