Pumpkin costume

It's that time of year again and I'd like to make pumpkin costumes for my 6 month old and 3 year old. I am a confident at sewing and usually make costumes, but can't seem to find any suitable patterns.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm planning to do the same for my ds2 by just copying this one - hopefully it will look ok!

wow - that's so cute...what are you going to do to keep the shape, stuff it or use some sort of webbing?

Tbh, I thought that if I used a velour or felt fabric then it would probably keep its shape well enough - plus don't want it to be too bulky on a baby anyway (my ds2 is only 10 weeks so still lying down). If I can't get a thick fabric then I thought I might line it with iron-on vilene or similar.

(dd2 aged 8 wants one too - )

I want one too I wouldnt need anything to keep its shape. I am naturally pumpkin shaped!!

I made a round custom once and put a casing in and threaded through some plastic boning. Kept its shape well.

OOh califrau, that is fab!! What kind of material did you use? I went into my local fabric shop today but they only had very thin cotton-type material which really wouldn't work, even making a tabard like you have. They had loads of fun fur though so I thought I might make the dses into tigers or ladybirds (isn't it great when they can't argue ). Dd2 found some green shiny fabric that was pretty cheap so she wants to go as Professor McGonagall now
