Janome 3300 help

I have a Janome 3300 and I can't work out how to drop the feed dog so I can do free style stitching. Online videos appear to suggest there's a button or lever at the back but I can't find one and my manual is long gone (also can't find one online).

Any help gratefully received.

Could you post a photo of the back of the machine?

I have a different model janome but there is a little slide at the back...to the left a bit.

This is the back of the machine - it's very sleek and stylish but I can't see any slides or buttons.

Check under/at the side of the free arm for a catch.

I found this via google This machine features a darning plate which sits over the needle plate to stop the fabric coming into contact with the feed teeth and acts like a drop feed - just what you need to get into Free Hand Embroidery.

It looks like it doesn't have one.

Try the Janome Sewing classroom Facebook group, lots of helpful folk on there.

My Janome has an unmarked white lever thing on the side by the on/off switch.

If it has a front loading bobbin, is there anything next to the bobbin cover?

ChicCroissant · 29/09/2020 09:31

It may be hidden inside the machine at the side of the bobbin if you pull off or fold down the L-shaped cover. Good luck, hope you find it!

Is this it? The feed dog is Hidden underneath At the back. If not you can search the site for Janome sewing machine 3300 and it throws up several options.

Also seems to be the same model as the 2032 according to this Video

Thanks for all your suggestions - turns out I need a darning plate for this model and the feed dog doesn't drop at all. Thank goodness for my local sewing centre :)

I said that :) I have a very rare sense of satisfaction 😂😂

It has spurred to to find out where my switch is though. They do like to hide them away!

I've always wanted to have a go at free style embroidery type stuff but find the idea a bit daunting.

I quilt and I read that there is no need to drop the feed dogs anyway as long as the stitch length is set to zero. So even though I can drop the feed dogs on my machine, I don’t bother and find it makes no difference. It might depend on what you are doing, but maybe try and see if you even need to drop them.

Cake for @SoupDragon for getting it right :)
