Wool help!

I've recently started knitting, and am in the process of my first ever project - a blanket made of squares. I've been using Loren Cake Wool from Wilko, but when I started, I didn't know how much I would need. I recently laid out my squares and figured out how much I would need of each colour, and went today to buy the rest... and one of the colours is now discontinued!

It's this. I don't even need that much - I have to make maybe two or three more little squares, and I could get ten of those out of an entire ball.

So, lovely Mumsnetters - does anyone know where I might find any more of it, or have any in their wool stashes?

I could have a look in my local shop, but by the time I've paid for it and posted it it will be £££.

I'd try phoning your local shop and a few in neighbouring towns.

Or try local sites like FB, Freecycle, Freegle or Nextdoor to see if someone has some left over.

Which colour is it, your link doesn’t work?

Are you on Ravelry? Three people have it in their stashes. They're all marked not for sale but that's Rav's default and sometimes if you only need a little people are willing to part with it so it's worth a PM. Just be aware that some people react like you've asked them to give up their first-born.

It might be worth asking on freegle and freecycle. Try a few neighbouring ones if there are any.

Thanks everyone. I ended up changing the design slightly, so although the blanket is still a work in progress, I now have all the wool I need for it.

That's a shame OP, there was a queue about 15 deep in my local shop today, each clutching a ball of blue cake wool. All women in breton tops, skinny jeans and converse all stars.

Only joking. Went to the shop and had a look, there were a few balls of grey and a cream colour but no blue.
