Just set mine up here & added my first post.

Who else has a blog & can I have a look pleeeease?

LucyKate & GingerMonkey - I'm a complete newbie to blogland so I'm just wondering how you go about promoting your blog so that people can see what you create ?
Is there any etiquette involved i.e. do's and don'ts ?
Apart from friends and family how to get people to take a look at your blog ?

I am going to be doing a simple website soon but that's a whole different story.....

gingermonkey-- hmmm blogger just went all wierd on me as i was trying to sign on your blog.. anyway its let me now but it shows the first time as being deleted but I didn't delete it very strange...

i don't really promote my blog, leaving comments on other blogs helps, posting your photos on flickr and joining some stitchy groups does too.

i posted this on another thread, but i really would recommend this book

I just need to find my feet really. All this crafty web stuff is completely alien to me - I'm always on the Racing Post website

I have seen this book and am going to order it, it looks great.

TB, I'm the same as LK, I don't promote it as such, but spend far too much time reading other blogs and commenting them, which does create more people looking at yours and so is some form of promotion.

It's my b'day today so not sure I'll have much time to make anything today.

We are going to a National Trust Garden today for a tromp in the woods and then a lovely Sunday lunch to follow. Ah, perfect !

It's my intention to try and make some Xmas decs this week.

dizzyday- what sort of blogs are you looking for? i just stumble around and look at other blogs listings.. my fav ones are

grrleigh knits very funny and sarcastic

and i love inside a black apple georgeous stuff there

how about orange

most of the rest of the blogs i have bookmarked are friends or food ones

i always go through the links list on each blog i visit, and also read the comments and look at those blogs too.

Meridian's writing blog has inspired me to start one of my own here.

I've got a quick question tho' - how do I set up a list of my favourite blogs?

sign in to blogger, then go to 'customise'. within your page layout, there should be a box that says 'add page element', select 'link list'. you will then be able to add link names and the url that goes with them, and also drag and drop the list on the page layout section to where abouts down your sidebar you want it to go, hth!

Lucykate - I'm a real numpty when it comes to these things but where is there a "search" function that I can input these new names to so I can read them?

google 'em. Actually I'll do the links in a bit. Also Dizzy, did I dream it, or did you say on another thread that you made kids' cushions for not very many pennies at all? (I know I can sew, but I am too busy and a bit too lazy and my friend wants me to do some cushions for her with appliques on for her kiddywinks - if you can do the cushions, I can do the appliques!!!)

Ginger - I do make cushions usually for kids with characters (Bob, Thomas etc) on the front and envelope backed in fleece

Dizzy, I'm a lazy cow basically (and I have a severe aversion to my sewing machine!). But seriously, I am just so busy with christmas orders I have to concentrate on the things I do best! I need some (2 of each) in pink gingham and blue gingham, same fabric on front and back. Do you think you could do them for me, and how much do you think it would be?
