Crochet Patter Help! With pic

I need help with a pattern!

I have completed round 1-3 easily enough but stuck on round 4. I have 18 stitches from the previous round to work with and I am required to stitch 2sc then another 2sc in the next stitches and repeat 6 times which creates 24 stitches for my next round.

But the maths doesn't add up! Should I be skipping a stitch as well?

you need to do 2x single sc then a double sc. Does that make sense?

You do 2 sc , and in the next stitch you do 2 sc. so 1 sc in the first stitch, 1 sc In the next stitch, and then 2 sc in the next stitch.

to clarify a single in the first gap, a single in the next gap, then a 2sc in the 3rd gap- repeat until end. The pattern is not very clear, but that's how you generally do it.

I think it means 1 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in second stitch then 2 sc in third stitch and then repeat so 1 sc in forth stitch, 1 sc in fifth stitch and 2 sc in sixth stitch etc etc giving 6 extra stiches in the round.

I hope that makes sense I've only been crocheting myself for a couple of months.

That makes sense but the instructions should just say 1sc, 1sc, 2sc surely? They have used 1sc elsewhere.

It's how patterns are written and once you know this, it's straightforward. Less straightforward until someone explains though!

Imagine a pattern where you had to do 17 SC and then 2 in one stitch. It's easier to write "17 SC, 2SC in next stitch" than to write out a whole list of SCs where you can lose count of how many you need to do. It's just an accepted shorthand.

It's like learning a different language :)
