Etsy - it's be done lots of times on here but I'd love your advice on setting up a shop

I'd love to start selling the reusable make up wipes I make and perhaps branching out to selling cloth pads.
I know it's a crowded market and I'd appreciate any tips you might have.
I know about getting public liability insurance.
Any HMRC tips?
Presentation of products tips?
Worth paying the extra for adverts?
Is other social media presence a good idea?
I have low expectations but I find "making stuff" therapeutic as an aside to my normal job. And friends and family have given positive feedback about gift bundles I've made for them.
For annoying health reasons my energy levels are patchy so an Etsy shop seems like a good idea to feed my "making stuff" habit at my own pace.
Your tips/ideas would be very welcome.

It's worth making yourself a light box to make sure your goods are photographed well. There are easy tutorials on YouTube on how to do it.

The photography is SO important. Other social media presence is definitely a good idea.

Mainly Facebook and Instagram but Pinterest is also good. Here's a tip...you can start a group on Facebook...something to do with recyclable beauty or similar...share and share and share...get lots of pics on there and useful vids and so on...and then begin sharing your own products and links to buy them.

You'd be a bigger fish in a smaller pond on Folksy, if you're in the UK and making the things yourself. Its UK only, doesn't allow resellers or manufacturers, and has done much better for me than Etsy did. Fees are reasonable, they don't force you to offer free postage and the whole tax thing is much simpler. Etsy marketplace is bigger, of course, but that means only a few get noticed.

Thank you , both. Very kind to respond so quickly. I will check out Folksy.
Light box is a great idea. I've been thinking about that.
