Completely out of my depth with postage on Etsy - can anyone help?

Am I supposed to make everything package it up then weigh it before posting it on Etsy?

& while I can have a good guess for postage weight - how on earth do I do abroad?

Sorry I'm just completely out of my depth and I need some help

For the UK you probably won't need to weigh each item as the bandings are fairly wide. If you think something is close to the size or weight limit then obviously do.

I buy boxes which are within the size limits just to be sure.

For international I would absolutely weigh and measure. A few grams can make a big difference. I've often lost a few £ on international postage, it's really frustrating. Yesterday I posted something to NL which had a £5.50 charge but cost me £6.95, so today I'm adjusting my prices today.

Thanks - it says you have to put an international price - so I have to sort it out before I list it online

It seems very complicated!

I would weigh your packaging, and weigh your items, and add that together rather than wrapping everything up.

If your items are all very similar weights you might not need to weigh each and every one. Eg I know that all items in one of my categories are under 200g, and that I'm another they are under 350g.

Hope it has gone well today. Can I ask what you make / sell?

I don't remember having to put international postage on when I started, I did UK only. That said, it's probably changed, and I do a big chunk of business in the US.

I make clothing out of discarded household fabrics (tablecloths, bedding, curtains)

Etsy insists on American postage and wont let you list anything without it & they seem keen on including postage in the price!

BTW that is a genius idea to do it separately - thank you so much
