I remember you saying Lucykate, back in the depths of last year when I joined MN! Newton kits and such like wasn;t it???

Miaou · 18/07/2007 19:42

Yes, definitely not a designer to pick if you hate backstitch!!

this was the first cross-stitch kit I did - nothing like starting out modestly I find

SpookyMadMummy · 18/07/2007 19:43

We ought to have a chart swop circle really....

Miaou · 18/07/2007 19:43

(that last was to WWB btw - took me ages to find a link to the sheep picture)

lucykate · 18/07/2007 19:44

miaou, did you stitch that!, you are braver than me

i designed, didn't stitch. always used to claim my back was hurting and get someone else to do it for me. we had a team of outworkers paid to do all the stitching

SpookyMadMummy · 18/07/2007 19:45

Ohh lucykate, thats a job I would love!

WigWamBam · 18/07/2007 19:46

Bloody hell ... that's one heck of a challenge for a first chart!

I think my first project was a daft little flower that dh bought me ... it didn't satisfy, so the next thing I did was Waterhouse's My Sweet Rose. Which I made a real hash of, but it taught me how to cross-stitch!

lucykate · 18/07/2007 19:47

i work for myself now, if anyone is interested, i'll have a pimms later and get brave enough to post my blog site so you can see what i've been working on

SpookyMadMummy · 18/07/2007 19:48

would love to see

WigWamBam · 18/07/2007 20:27

SpookyMadMummy · 18/07/2007 21:00

WigWamBam · 18/07/2007 21:01

Too much Pimms, maybe

lucykate · 18/07/2007 21:07

lol, i haven't even had my tea yet!

i don't really want to post it here, do you have an email address ot 'cat' (i haven't paid my fiver ) and i can send you a link?

its not so much cross stitch nowadays, its more crafty items, and soft toys for kits etc.

Dumbledior · 19/07/2007 07:04

Lucykate. Can you link to some of your designs on another site if you don't want to post your blog on here? Would love to see some of them.

Dumbledior · 19/07/2007 07:07

here is a design I did. uk.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/mumsnetcrafters-share/photos/view/484e?b=7 It is a sepia photo of my grandmother that I stiched for my mum a few years ago.

Password if needed...mumsnetter/netters

SpookyMadMummy · 19/07/2007 07:09

Well, I would love to see it. My email is sewingmad [email protected] (take out the extra space but keep lines)

SpookyMadMummy · 19/07/2007 07:11

oh that didn;t work did it?? sewing mad [email protected]

dragonstitcher · 19/07/2007 10:05

I stitched just one of those sheep for an RR and it was horrendous! You are very brave to do the whole darn thing, Miaou! I love the stained glass idea, not so keen on stitching flowers, although I love the iris.

I stitched quite a few Newtons for a baby afghan and yes, the backstitch was awful.

I love the owl in flight that WigWamBam mentioned. Currently doing an Owl/wildlife type picture. Been doing it about 12 months now - about 2/3rds of the way through it.

Am I able to order the 'owl in flight' off the website.

Thanks
