I love the idea of making jewellery, but basically don't know where to start.

I'm thinking of making necklaces, with various charms etc, but not to sure where to begin.

Any help?
Thanks

Just buy a load of things and get started
Websites such as crafster.org are really good for tips and sourcing materials.
Ebay is great for buying things, but there is quite a lot of crap to trawl through to buy the best things.

Start off small with maybe buying a kit or go to a craft shop or Hobbycraft & buy a few cheaper bits first to practice on - they also have good help leaflets full of tips & ideas. But Warning - It's very addictive !!

Hobbycraft is a bit rip offy and samey though?

Yes, but its a good place to start because you can see what you are buying. Once you know the sort of stuff you are after, then I would look online

If you're just starting I'd avoid buying beads from Hobbycraft or other craft shops, they're too expensive. Buy the findings and threads from there, then raid charity shops, or even cheaper, Claire's Accessories, especially when they have a sale on, for jewellery to dismantle, you'll save a fortune!

www.craftster.org/ is great for tutorials, also jewelrymaking.about.com/ which is a great site for showing you the basic as well as more complicated stuff.

My other top tip is that in the US it's spelt jewelry, it makes Google searches so much easier
