I need a pretend campfire! Can anyone arty please explain in very simple steps how to make such a thing? I would prefer it wasn't made of real logs etc, because then I would have to go out in the rain and find some!

Please help! Crafts just aren't my forté!

Am not even remotely crafty, but I would draw (or print out) some logs, and then use orange tissue paper as the flames.

probably no use to you what so ever!

Rolled up newspaper painted brown for the logs?

DS2 made one of these years ago at a pre-school craft thing. It was so fab we still have it. His was only about 6inches square but I am sure it would be easy to make it bigger.

Get a board to put it on - cardboard from a cereal box?
Scrunch up some newspaper into a rough bonfire shape [hmmm]. Tape it to the base, preferably with the kind of sticky tape made from paper (have had a total mental block about what you call it)
Paint it orange, red, yellow.
Paint base earthy colours.
Put twigs on it at irregular angles. Branches if its really big.
Stick orange, yellow, red tissue paper flames.
Sprinkle a bit of glitter on to look like sparks.

If you've got dcs get them to do it.

if you are indoors disco lights hidden behind coloured red/oragne cellaphane or tissue paper give a flickering effect. You can buy wood logs from a garage or garden centre !
