Beadwork

I was thinking of taking up bead work. My question is how do I find a club or something in my area for complete beginners to it? What books would you recommend?

What have you guys made so far? Are there any videos on YouTube for absolute novices or not? I was at a haberdashery shop in town today looking at the beads on display.

Beadwork isn't really my "thing" but I have done a couple of wee things in the past. If I were you, I would look for a kit. Google "beginner bead kit" and choose something simple. Some of the more intricate things are really complex and you need to understand the basics first.

Most sites, like this one www.halfpenney.co.uk/halfpenneykits.htm grades kits according to how easy they are. I think my first project was some little Christmas decorations in red and gold. Quite straightforward. If you knit, there are also kits where you knit with wire and insert beads as you go.

Thank you

I’ll take a look at the website.
