Backing a hexagon blanket?

Ive made this hexagon blanket for a pressie for someone and want to back it with something - fleece maybe?
However, because I didn’t think this through very well the edges are all hexagonish- ins and outs.

So if i sew it to a backing do i follow the ins and outs or do straight lines?

I would either follow the shape of the edges or crochet half hexagons to fill them in.

Half hexagons are your friend.

^ this. It'll square the edges off nicely and make it easier to back

Is so pretty, and I love the equidistant spacing of colours 😁
