I'm just a beginner and I'd love to make a blanket like the photos attached but I don't know how, can anyone help please? I know it's all different tiles sewn together but unsure if it's a version of a granny square or not. Thanks

Do you have any clearer photos? I can’t see it very well. Others may be along and more use quicker though!

Difficult to see as the picture quality isn't great but i think it looks like solid granny squares joined on the corner.
It reminds me of Sophie Digard's work - scarfs in particular.

I'm trying to take pictures from tv, hopefully this is a bit better....

It looks like it's granny squares crocheted from variegated yarn with the final round done in a solid grey yarn. If you can put up with the grey bit being twice as wide you could use the join as you go method. I use the Attic24 explanation. This will eliminate the sewing up and give a flatter feel to the finished blanket.

They look like wee flowers if that's any help????

The second picture looks like it's small granny squares (or maybe granny circle or flower motifs) joined together, with the stripes made out of the same pattern but in the darker colour. It's a bit fuzzy to see properly though!

are you sure that's crochet? It looks like a yo-yo quilt to me.

Having said that, if you google yo-yo crochet afghan there's plenty of hits.

I'd imagine you do it as a join as you go, and with a dk or chunkyish yarn it should grow quite quickly.

I googled for an image of what I was trying to explain, and I think it's something like the centre of this square done in lots of different colours and then joined
