I quite fancy a whole years worth of project. Any idea how? I was thinking ...

5-10

20-25
25-30
39-35

8 colours? Is that enough? How would I know how many of each to order? What colours?

Wow I am looking forward to seeing the finished blanket! I am planning to do a temperature scarf this year (blanket was a bit too ambitious) doing 2 rows a week (the maximum and minimum temperatures). Any tips are very welcome! Did you manage to keep up with doing a row every day or did you have to do catch up sessions with several at a time? Did you have many rows of the extremes?

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 31/12/2018 11:55

carby that is truly amazing! I still haven't finished the WIPs i have ongoing, but maybe this year Hmm

cannot wait to see a picture!

OhCarbyDay · 31/12/2018 14:20

My last stripe is done! Just doing an edge.
Not sure where I’ll spread it out for a pic as it’s enormous.

Most stripes I’ve done daily. Some I’ve had to take s note and do a few at a time, like holidays.

Wow, it's fabulous!

EnchantersNightshade · 01/01/2019 10:20

Beautiful! Didn't see your post last new year. Thank you for returning & sharing the pic. Colours are stunning Smile

KatieMoragsMum · 01/01/2019 10:35

Stunning! And such dedication. I’m impressed.

OhCarbyDay · 01/01/2019 11:54

I can’t stop now. I have yarn left.

Another one?

Stripes? Squares? The temperature where I am that day? The temperature somewhere else?

Wow. That’s gorgeous - and I take my hat off to your commitment!

TarquinGyrfalcon · 01/01/2019 15:19

@OhCarbyDay - would you mind sharing the size and stitch and colours.

I am so tempted to make one of these - yours really is a thing of beauty.

OhCarbyDay · 01/01/2019 15:39

It’s enormous. I did 290 stitches across and half trebles. I didn’t work out just how huge it would end up. Far far too big to ever be useful.
I’ll do my next one in single crochet stitches and about 200 across.
The yarn is scheepjes DK

Thank you - now the question is, do I start yet another project or actually finish some of my WIPs!

Knittedfairies · 01/01/2019 17:13

That is a thing of beauty! Start one immediately Tarquin....
(I don’t have WIPs, I have PhDs, as in Projects Half Done. People are very impressed when I tell them them I’m working on my PhD...)

yaela123 · 01/01/2019 18:14

Carby That is amazing!

Knitted I may be adopting that Grin

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 01/01/2019 18:14

I was thinking of working in some sort of row of fancy stitching for birthdays/anniversaries, but haven't clarified it in my mind just yet

More of a family calendar/tree thing iyswim ..bobble stitch initials??

Maybe a vertical strip for each family member and their birthday on in a fancy stitch and a fancy row for a big event like a wedding or house move....it's all whirling around....then join all the strips into a bigger throw??

OhCarbyDay · 01/01/2019 18:32

I love the idea of a fancy stripe for special days.
I just cant decide what to do this year.

@Knittedfairies - love the PhDs, I have many!
I'm currently browsing yarn online (not that I don't have loads of yarn, but it would need to be new for a new project)

LemonRedwood · 01/01/2019 19:30

I'm stealing the PhD terminology!

cate16 · 06/01/2019 20:50

Just found this thread, Ive just started one. Love your one ohcarbyday I'm doing the highs/low of each day in blocks. Trouble is I didn't really think it through properly- when finished at the moment it will be 5ft x almost 13ft! I know both me and my husband are both tall...... but not THAT tall. :)

drspouse · 17/01/2019 14:12

Oh that's amazing! I'm so tempted!
I am more of a knitter than a crocheter but it would work up a lot faster in crochet.

drspouse · 17/01/2019 14:31

Right a quick calculation shows me that a 240 stitch garter stitch in aran weight would be just about right...

And I think I'm going to go for Rico Essentials as it looks like it's going to be around for a while and has lots of colours plus it isn't too pricey and there are some destashes on Ravelry.

Thoughts on temperature/colour matches? I am thinking purple at the cold end and red at the hot end but avoid pink, and we don't have very very cold or very very hot (unless it's like last year...)

drspouse · 19/01/2019 10:26

Ok, so for my location last year the lowest high was 0 and the highest was 30.
So if I do a 3 degree band that's 10 colours.
Or if I do 2 degrees that's 15.
I have 11. I'd quite like to add a more spring green and a lighter blue. So if I did that I could have 2 degrees but the last ones at the top and bottom would count for 3 degrees roughly.
