I fancy trying sock knitting, can anyone help with what I need to start? I want to use circular needles as am already happy using them and can do magic loop. Any good books/blogs to help? Thanks!

I'm new to knitting socks too.
www.winwickmum.co.uk/2017/11/monthly-musing-october-2017-hamster.html is a good place to start.; I've bought her book which is literally step by step with photo. I'm using circular needles (as recommended by WWmum) as couldn't get on with using double pointed ones. I've knitted about 4" so far (it's very different to conventional knitting!
Good luck!

i prefer toe up socks...I live in mortal fear of not having enough yarn.

I like the bamboo needles too, I have bought lots from Tiger.

Yes, winwick is an excellent place to start. Or silver's sock class: www.cometosilver.com/socks/

Master 1 from the top down first on dpns. Once you have got the basic vanilla sock, you can venture into cables and lace. If you know to use magic loop, you can eventually do two at a time and avoid the dreaded 2nd sock syndrome. I have a couple of short circulars which are perfect for socks, but you still need dpns to turn a heel.

Socks are my favourite things to knit. They are technical enough to be interesting, but not too tricky. And they are relatively quickly.

If you can already use a magic loop then cast on about 65 stitches and then do it until you’re ready to do the heel. Tbh I’d use dpns as they are simpler for socks,
Especially for the heel.

Thank you! So it looks like I need fixed circulars 2.5mm as they don’t go that small for interchangeable sets?

25 cm fixed circulars - I have 2.5 and 3 mm.
