help me my mother has dropped me in a big hole

at church we have this craft stall that sells stuff - things made out of fabric remnants (little teddies etc), hankies, handmade soap, little kits with a facecloth in them, ridiculously small shopping bags

all very nicely made

but this year they did not do very well and I happened to mention to my mother that I wondered if it was because they had sold the same stuff for a few years and as it was church it was the same customers and they had all the hankies and tiny teddies that they needed

this was a comment to my mother in confidence. She then went off and told the woman who organises the craft team because it might be 'helpful'

now the woman is keen to hear 'my ideas' and I see her at the school gate and my problem is I am about as arty crafty as a ham sandwich

I need ideas

other than 'chop your mother's head off with a hatchet'

please help me [pleading emoticon]

tell her you have no idea what your mother was talking about and say oh it was probably her thought and she was just embarrassed to mention it

how about

pinnys in lovely material for children and adults

cushion covers

table mats

pinafore dresses (a la boden)

aprons! My gran makes lots of aprons for her church stall - sounds exactly the same type of thing. Only problem you need bigger pieces of material rather than scraps.

also make drawstring bags, really good for keeping toys in, or plimsoll bags for school. Can offer to personalise these with an embroidered name too - have samples and make up to order maybe?

That knitted food is amazing!! There must be some cross stitchers among you. I make these very cute little framed letters (pattern from a book - Jo Verso I think) for children - A has an apple, B butterfly etc. The design is about 1" square so can be mostly done in an evening. Small (3.5") square frame bought very cheaply on t'internet and your done! Very cheap and cheerful. I stitch whole names for pressies as well.

Can anyone make easy beady jewellery? Again, you can buy supplies cheaply on the internet.

Someone once gave me candles with a bit of decoration on, 2 tied together with something (can't remember details)

Sorry, it's been a while since I've been to a church thing.

another thing on of Gran's friends makes is advent calendars - 2 rows of pockets at the bottom, numbered, outline of stable at top, and velcro in the right places to make up the Christmas story from the characters and assorted trees stars etc that are in the pockets. We have one and it is so lovely, nucer imo than the ones you can spend £30 on from Letterbox or similar. Is a lot of work so you need to be able to charge accordingly.

Fabric doorstops would be easy to make - like this . Lovely I think.

The breakfast was great, but I really like the strawberry tarts - very edible looking!
