Anyone waiting to start the Attic24 Moorlands Crochet-Along?

AliceInUnderpants · 01/01/2017 20:47

I only learned to crochet in April past, and this will be my first crochet-along, though I have used a couple of Attic 24 patterns before now.

Anyone else joining in, and we can use this as a progress thread?
Any tips for a first-timer?

I chickened out with the crochet. Blush I'm not very experienced, and was worried I'd make a hash of it and waste all my yarn. So instead, I'm working with SC Special Chunky, subbing some similar colours where appropriate, and making the blanket on my infinity loom. I'm using all the pegs, which gives 5 stripes out of each ball, but I have an extra ball of Aster (one of the blue subs) that I bought in error, so in total I should get 85 stripes (2 rows) out of 17 balls, but my blanket will be wider, I think - just under 3 metres wide.

Anyhoos… not long started, going at a rate of 1 -3 rows per day at best, so it's going to take 6 - 10 months at least. Slow but steady. Smile

How's everyone getting along with this? I'm being quite slow and on stripe number 55 I think. Love it!

Liz that sounds interesting you should post a pic 😀

Will do soon! Smile I underestimated how many stripes I'd get out of each ball; it's actually 8 stripes per ball. I've also added a couple of suitable colours that I already had. I think it'll be roughly single bedspread size.

Hi all, just found this thread!
I also in the middle of this blanket although I haven't done it in time with Lucy as it took me about 5 attempts to get started.

I'm impatient and didn't do the sample piece (which in hindsight is probably why it took so many attempts to get going!).

I'm on part 4, so around row 65 and I'm using a 5 mm hook. I think it took me until row 10 to get the pattern but once I had, I didn't need to use stitch markers and can now easily tell when I've gone wrong. I absolutely love this pattern and now that I'm out of the endless greens and into the purples it seems to be just flying by!

I desperate to finish by Mother's Day as I'm sending it to Spain for my Mum to drape across her sofa!

Ooh patchwork that looks lovely!

I got the yarn pack as a late Christmas present, in January, and started about two weeks ago - had to finish a few WIPs before I could let myself get stuck into this one!

I'm making it double bed size, so it's 300 st wide. I've only done 7 colours/14 rows so far. Looking forward to getting out of the murky browns and greens and into the heathery purples.

Ooh hello!

I'm somewhere around row 43, it was a bit of a shock when I put sage in, funny how I know it's green but it looks very blue in the blanket Smile

ButtfaceMiscreant · 16/03/2017 22:36

I am row 41 currently and I agree Raptor, that sage was a bit of a shock! Better now there are two stripes of it (thus far) but still not sure I like it in there with the greens, but it is a gorgeous colour nonetheless. Hopefully it will jar less once more purples surround it.

Megatherium · 18/03/2017 09:07

I'm around row 50, but I think I'm going to want it a bit longer so have started putting in some of the extra rows that are suggested for the double blanket.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 18/03/2017 10:19

D'ya know what Megatherium I'm thinking the same thing (I did the test rows and measured to make sure) but it does look as if it's going to be a bit short for what I want.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 18/03/2017 20:54

Mine is finished, just in time to give it to my Mum for Mothers Day. I like the look of the wave pattern but I didn't enjoy making it as much as the ripples I've made. I just found the pattern a bit tricky at first.

Hopefully Mum will like it, on to my next project.....
