where is a good place in east/southeast London for fabrics?

are the markets poplar/woolwich any good? or is somewhere else than john lewis stratford?

I always got what I needed in Rolls & Rems in Lewisham - haven't been for a couple of years though

Deptford Market always used to have a few fabric stalls on a Friday.

Walthamstow. Search for Walthamstow fabrics and you will get many blog post describing the market.

I rate it.

found a little fabric shop near poplar market.
they had a great selection of fabrics and just what I needed.
they sold me a cotton/silk mix yeah right for 3£ a meter.

Walthamstow! Can't recommend it enough.

There's a guy on Fridays only who sells at Woolwich market, actually it's a bit hit & miss exactly what he brings out on a.n. day, but, good news, he owns one of the shops in Walthamstow (I can't remember which one).
