I need to re-inforce the organza yoke on dd2's Elsa dress...

It's started coming apart ever so slowly - any way to reinforce it without taking apart the whole bodice? I wondered about maybe stitching a 'v' of white satin ribbon into it, behind the organza...

Thanks for any help Smile

Nothing to suggest really. That stuff can fray like there's no tomorrow. Did you use McCall's pattern 7000?

I think your solution could work, give it a go.

If I was to make that dress again I wouldn't use snowflake organza for the sleeves and yoke. My DD2 found it too itchy and had to wear a top under it. I would use bodystocking and illiminate the stretch at the shoulder seams with india tape. Just saying if you go for the re-do option.

Yep, I used the McCalls pattern.

I looked at the body stocking but dd2 was adamant it had to sparkle so we went with the organza. I didn't do the sleeves though - I left them as armholes bound with blue satin binding.

I'll give the ribbon a go after the hols - can't get in my corner for dolls and prams at the mo Grin. If it carries on, I'll look at undoing it and replacing the whole thing.

Thanks fortified.

Could you wrap the seam with bias binding lucy? Or oversew or roll hem the seam, easy if your machine has a roll hem foot.

i knew this thread was going to be you! Your girls are so lucky to have such a gifted Mum Halloween Smile

I'm not sure about binding it - it's where the yoke piece meets the rest of the bodice that's sloooowly coming away from itself.

It's fine at the back so the shoulders may end up a bit wonky.
