Ribbon wreath

I love crafting but don't have a good eye so I like doing knitting or other things where no imagination is required. I thought making a ribbon wreath would be a good thing yo try. I bought lots of satin ribbon but bring an over-the-top kind of girl I cut it quite long. It looks stupid. If you have made one can you please tell me how long you cut the strips?
Any other advice? I bought round wreaths because I thought they would Elbe the most straightforward to try first.
I have just been seduced by some ribbon packs at The Works so am ready to give it another go!
If I can find it I wil, post a picture so that you can marvel at my prowess and creativity sympathise and make suggestions.

A photon would be great, thank you. I used a few colours and diagonally trimmed the ends, it should be lovely. But it isn't.
