Knitting Pattern Help

I'm knitting baby booties. The pattern is in moss stitch. I just finished 4 rows with a decrease at each end in alternative rows. I used knit/purl 2 together as appropriate to keep the pattern.

The next row begins with Patt2tog, patt to last 2 stitches patt2tog. 21stitches.

I am a little confused as what patt2tog means? Can anyone help please?

I think this means, if you're due to start with a knit stitch, k2tog. If you're due to start with a purl stitch, p2tog.

It means work 2 together in whatever stitch keeps the pattern correct. So, if your 3rd stitch on the next row needs to be a knit stitch then work 2 together purlwise to start. If your 3rd stitch is purl then start by knitting 2 together. Smile

Oh ok thanks. That was what I thought but I didn't get the difference from the previous set of instructions. ??
