Painting terracotta pots for plants -which is best, acrylic or normal water-based paint?

I have been thinking of painting some terracotta pots to cheer my cacti plants up, and was wondering which paint to use?

I've seen a couple of websites which mention using both, the water-based being geared towards children, but for aesthetic purposes does it matter?

Your advice is most welcome :)

I'd go with acrylic, I would think it'll give a more durable finish.

Thanks Hexiegone Smile
Going to buy my stuff next weekend and get started. The pots are going to be the finishing touches to my newly painted conservatory Smile
