Looking for a good 'sew along' video/blog or sewing forum

Can anyone recommend a good video or blog where I can follow a pattern step by step with advice on fabric etc? I've had a look online and youtube but nothing is jumping out at me.

I'm pretty much a complete beginner and some of the terminology on patterns is confusing. I'm not too good with choosing fabric and getting tension right etc either.

Any UK forums that I might try as well?

have you looked up tilly and the buttons online? thats a great website she has a blog too.

or great british sewing bee?they have some good books and ive heard the latest one is excellent.

Maybe start off with some simpler projects like cushions or small projects before going into patterns if you're a complete beginner, when i first started out i bought a book called sewing made simple by tessa evelegh which i found really useful. good luck! bunting was my first project simple yet rewarding - and great for the garden in the summer (when it arrives!) :)

When I first started (just 18 months ago) I found a website called 'Craftsy'. I booked onto the Christine Haynes 'Sassy Librarian Blouse' course. Am not a fan of the blouse itself, but Christine was an excellent teacher, you get the lessons in perpetuity, and its really easy to follow. Most of the techniques and tips included inthis course have really helped with learning how garments need to be constructed etc, and shes not at all patronising. There are other 'sew alongs' on there too, and tons of free patterns. Also the Tilly and the Buttons book is excellent to guide you through making a project.

Good luck, and have fun!
