I thought I did this when I was a child, but having bought a kmitting dolly for Dd I'm now not so sure I did. It's pretty tricky! Would a different pin help? Anything easier than a traditional knit that can be achieved on the dolly?

Don't wrap the yarn too tightly. I always got on better with a large bodkin (yarn sewing needle) but some people prefer to use a crochet hook.

Interesting idea - I was an avid crocheter, perhaps I did this! I'm going to try it, thanks.

I bought a cheap dolly for DD because I thought we could make scarves for teddy etc but the wool kept slipping off. Eventually I found one with a more 'nail' like top and we got on much better.

She uses a crochet hook and I still have to cast on for her.
