what fabric are you going to use? (so I can pinch ideas ) I have no idea what to choose and have a gazillion other things to crack on with first

I'm planning on making it with a lightweight cotton. Probably something from Fabricland's £2.99 range as I hadn't realised at first that it takes 5 metres of fabric! So I thought I'll make up a cheap one first and then if that goes well I might make another one using slightly more expensive fabric.

I haven't looked at Fabricland's cottons - just stuff for a gazillion Elsa's and gingham for a couple of school summer dresses because making them is cheaper than buying (then altering) ones for my odd shaped dd1.

I am not sure about it for me, I am pear shaped and think it will make my bust look smaller and my bum look bigger which is not my general aim .

5m is a lot isn't it.

lavender, I have small boobs but a fairly well defined waist so am hoping with a bit of alteration to the bust area it won't look too out of proportion iyswim.

I didn't realise Fabricland did cottons so cheaply(god knows why...they seem to have everything on that brightly coloured website of theirs ) so I might pick something from there to have a go in.

I'm lucky because I have a Fabricland in my city centre so I can go in and look at stuff there rather than having to browse the headache inducing website.

Lavendersun I would have thought that the walkaway dress would be good for pear shapes as the skirt is so full. I am more of an apple so slightly worried about it doing up around my waist.

tutu, I feel that really full skirts make me look like I am heading towards the "hippo in a tutu" look, which is not nice!

Do you know, I have never bought anything from Fabricland. I looked at their home page once and hit the back button faster than I have ever clicked in my life (and I am very good at shopping).

I really don't need anything enough to deal with their web page.
