If so are you also panicking mildly?

I have decided to make dd a waldorf doll
and dp a board game
and because I am making stuff for everyone else, will have to make something for ds

I can't believe that none of you are making presents for people

christmas should be a time of loving and giving and sticky glitter and 3am bleary and desperate sewing extravaganzas

I am making the bags for my presents. I am doing them next week on my Soft Furnishings course and have decided to make small ones for presents. Not making the actual presents though!

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 26/10/2006 14:48

goood....goood...

Well, it's a start . Don't think soft toys would be appreciated by my play station loving nephews

Just one word. Chutney. Everybody's getting it this year!

LittleScarer · 26/10/2006 14:56

I'd like to knit presents but I just never seem to get round to it. I am knitting my dad a scarf for his birthday though, and I knitted gloves for my mum last year.

I am going to be making my cards this year, going to a watercolour christmas card workshop and can't wait!

JessaJackOLantern · 26/10/2006 15:04

In my mind I will be making cards this year...I would also like to make something really nice for a friend of mine...knit a cardi for ds, sew some trousers for ds, make a toy for ds...

In reality I fear I will be buying cards (from charity shops though [lopsided halo]) and resorting to buying things other people have made from christmas craft fairs...

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 26/10/2006 15:05

oh wtf am I making this chuffing doll?

am sat here on a brief respite from the kids, positioning dressmakers pins.

i am 29 yo. I ask you.

Alternative is traipsing round and round Debenhams, BHS and Boots loosing all will to live, all taste and all money trying to decide which mass produced "thing" best suits various individuals needs and preferences
"hmmmm, I wonder, would BIL like a 6 pack of lagers of the world (again) or a novelty oven glove (again)"

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 26/10/2006 15:21

and now the nose has fallen off again

am increasinly tempted by the alternative route

my dad at least is easy to buy for. He instructs us to take his present money and distribute it among big issue sellers for some festive alchol.

The waldorf doll I saw when I googled iy didn't have a nose TO fall off....

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 26/10/2006 15:28

look! noses!

instructions

there are no instructions for nosed dolls so I am winging it

ds's doll does not have a nose and, tbh, I fear it has interfered with the bonding process.

ah, sorry, you have to fiddle about a bit on the myriad site for Kathe Kruse dolls

Last year dh and I did a Homemade Victorian Christmas (arf) for the whole family (10 of us in total) - everything homemade, chocolates (soft centres, caramels, liqueurs, all the usual), truffles, sugared almonds, biscuits, cakes, pies, turkish delight, matchmakers, christmas pud, pate, toffees, fudge, brandy butter - the bloody lot. Nothing bought in, apart from the turkey, veg and the alcohol We started making stuff in about September and freezing/storing it. Packaging was a bloody nightmare, we must have bought every shiny box and pretty tin in the whole of Devon, masses of coloured foil....shudder. It was a HUGE undertaking. I'm probably going to do about half of it this year, I don;t think I could face it all again.

JessaJackOLantern · 26/10/2006 15:43

I stand corrected....noses, indeed

Maybe I can hand sew some trousers for ds ds after all....

Greensleeves · 26/10/2006 15:45

...and Jessa, I LOVE your halloween name!

JessaJackOLantern · 26/10/2006 15:51

I think it is a little weak m'self...

TooTickyTheAppleBobber · 26/10/2006 15:54

I knew this was your thread
I desperately wanted to go on a waldorf doll-making course when we lived in Bristol but didn't get around to it. Have you made one before?

TooTickyTheAppleBobber · 26/10/2006 15:59

Oh, now I see there are instructions, I shall have to make one too. Or I'd like to....
Why oh why are there not enough hours in the day? Or the night? Could there maybe be an extra day inserted into each week?
I nurture dreams of making a wooden batmobile for ds2 that will make him say WOW. (Can you believe I just typed WOE instead of WOW? Closer to the truth I fear.)
