Last time I tried crochet, I ended up doing some sort of weird knitting with a finger and a crochet hook Confused

Crochet at first made literally no sense to me! But once you get the hang of how patterns are written you will be away. A good place to start is granny squares. YouTube it and there are some great tutorials that will give you a step by step demonstration. Granny squares are worked in rounds, similar to the way hats are made so I would start off practising simple squares til you can work out what a pattern is telling you to do.
Try this like for some handy tips. [http://www.simplycrochetmag.co.uk/category/tutorials/]

Be wary of the difference between UK and US terminology in patterns, for example a treble crochet in UK terminology is a double crochet in US terminology. And be warned, it can be addictive!

Can you link to the pattern so we can advise you? is it working in the round? Which stitch? I've been crocheting for about 15 months and absolutely love it.

Hi, sorry, I went out! I'll be back to have a closer look tomorrow! First thoughts though, it's using american terminology which is fine, but you just need to aware they call the different stitches differently, so our double crochet, they call single crochet.

Well, I do like to complicate things for myself Grin

Thankyou for looking, I appreciate any advice I can get Smile
