Which interchangeables: knitpro symphonie, knitpro karbonz or addi click?

Please wise knitters, which set? DH is going to buy me a set for my birthday, so I don't want to waste the treat. I have singles of both symphonie and karbonz and love them both but have heard of problems with cables detaching and wool catching, so have added the addi clicks to the mix, but have not tried them. My knitting preferences are very mixed, from scarves through to blankets, and I am a reasonable experienced and competent knitter. I have a fairisle throw and lace scarf in progress at the moment, love DROPS yarns but am beginning to explore some expensive yarns for heirloom and gift pieces. The indecision is crippling me!! Any advice offered would be most welcome. TIA.

I have a set of knitpro Nova. I originally bought a starter set as i didnt know which to get. It had a pair of nova, a pair of symphonie and a pair of the acrylic in it. I preferred the metal nova and up to now haven't had a problem with any of the connectors being rough or coming undone as long as you use the special tool to tighten them. I've had them about a year and I love them. I haven't tried the addi clicks though so no idea how they compare.

Thanks - that's great. It's hard to decide, without the chance to try them out! What did you prefer about the metal over the wood?

I like the way the stitches seem to glide over the shiny metal surface whereas on the wood ones the stitches seemed stiffer if you get what I mean. I do think its down to personal choice though as my MIL and SIL both preferred the wood ones. We all hated the acrylic.

I got the Knitpro Karbonz set for Christmas last year and I love them! I use them for pretty much everything now and find them much easier to use than wood (Symphonie), acrylic (Trendz) or metal needles (Addi).

The needles can start to come loose if you don't tighten them really well with the key thingy (and occasionally even if you do) but not to the point where they fall right off. I keep the key in a little pouch with my scissors and tape measure so it's easy to tighten them back up if they do come loose.

At the moment I'm working on a gansey for DP and the Karbonz are ready making life easier. I find the yarn slides more easily than over wooden needles but not so fast that I'm in danger of losing them.

I've got Hiyahiya which I really like! I have a metal set and lots of bamboo tips. Prefer the latter tbh.

I also like knit pro symphonie.

My favourite Interchangables are my darn pretty's - I have a lace top set) but use them for everything but the waiting list is enormous (google dyakcraft). They were a present from my Dad.

The dyakcraft needles look amazing lurker! Such a shame that they are not making the darn prettys at the moment. I've heard good things about the HiyaHiyas but am anxious about the sharpness?

Zombie, it's good to hear that good things about the Karbonz - I think I'm leaning more towards these now, on the grounds that these are relatively new and therefore the range (and possibility of adding to the set) is likely to be around for some time. I did have a look at the Nova Lifesalemon, but was put off because I can't see any extra tips?

Am I right in thinking that the tips for KnitPro are interchangeable with the cables, so I can but the Karbonz set but buy Symphonie points to add to the collection?

Thanks for your input ladies - very much appreciated. I have been lurking on some of the Ravelry forums but it is much more helpful to have some direct advice.

Yes, all of my different knitpro tips are interchangeable with the same cables. I have bought extra nova tips from a seller on eBay but I'm not sure how widely available they are and wether it is old stock that has been discontinued so you may be right to go for a newer range.
I have a fixed circular needle which has the Karbonz tips. I agree it is lovely to knit with but because it is black and silver and I struggled to see my stitches when using darker yarn which is why I finally decided on the nova.
Whoever knew there would be so much to consider when taking up knitting Grin

I have the Hiya Hiya ones and absolutely love them. The cable spins for comfort and you can insert a lifeline. Definitely worth checking out.

Sorry to add another to your mix grin

I have the Hiya Hiya interchangeables and they are wonderful. Really sharp and the stitches glide over the needles.

I've experienced no problems with them coming loose.

The cases they come in are beautiful too :)
