knitting pattern for a poncho

Anyone got a knitting pattern for a poncho for an 18month old ?

Alternatively a cute warm cardie - something silly with tassels/pompoms or a fringe type of thing?

TIA

A poncho will be much easier to make than a cardie. Here's a pattern. Tassels are v easy to add to anything, ditto pompoms.

Thanks Leisel, I am printing it to have a look at - dd is only 18 months atm, so something that fits up to age 5 would need some adapting, which looking at it might be too hard

Adapting a poncho pattern is really quite easy, and there are plenty of folk here who could help. Anyway, with online patterns, you may struggle to get the same yarn/tension square measurements etc etc.

(And anyway, if a poncho is a tiny bit too big or too small, it's still ok, right?)

Its really not its easy peesy. It took me about a fortnight and I let DD pick the colours. Its a fairly straightforward pattern.

NQcockney have you knitted it? I can't see a size, but as it increases i guess you could stop when it was big enough.

I am not a bad knitter, and would be a ble to do a cardie

It says ages 2-4. But yeah, as you say, just carry on until it's big enough should work fine.

I'm a good knitter (well, I do some interesting stuff), but struggle with cardies etc, for some reason.

Oh, no, haven't knitted it, I have boy children, and tend to only make hats and flat things.

I haven't knitted anything for about 5 years - but used to do dh Faffe Fesset jumpers etc (back on the days when I loved him)
