Can I use soap nuts for wet felting in washing machine?

Just that really. I know you need a natural detergent so would these work?

You don't need a natural detergent, I just use my normal one and shove the item in with other laundry.

It's not the detergent that does the felting - it's the heat of the water and the agitation of it all going round in the drum. I can't imagine that soap nuts wouldn't work.
